Bond-yoncé? Queen Bey’s (Probably!) Gonna Do the Next Bond Theme

Knowles. Beyoncé Knowles.

Prepare thyselves. This news hit the streets today:

Billboard:

With Daniel Craig opting to return as James Bond for one more film, rumors have been swirling in regards to who will tackle the next Bond theme song. According to NME, Beyoncé is reportedly in talks to record the movie’s title track.

After watching her contemporaries — most notably, Adele and Sam Smith — take on the challenge, the Lemonade singer has entertained talks with Bond producers to gauge her interest in tackling the possible record. “The two spoke before Bey’s first meeting with film bosses and Adele told her how co-writing and performing a Bond theme gave her an amazing career hike. Not many of the themes have been as successful — but there are tens of millions of Beyoncé fans out there,” a source revealed to the Daily Star.

An MGM studio executive reportedly added that a Beyoncé appearance would be “the icing on the cake” in terms of concluding Daniel Craig’s run as James Bond.

Oh, yes.

License to Trill

Publicists, of course, as they are wont to do from time to time, are putting the brakes on the news; even though, of course, they ain’t denying anything:

UPDATE: A rep for Beyonce sent this response to Billboard regarding the singer’s involvement: “This is a rumor.”

Not All About the Benjamins

One thing’s for sure. She won’t be doing it for the money.

Business Insider:

Beyoncé and Jay-Z, the billion-dollar power couple, have finally put down roots in Los Angeles. The entertainment moguls recently bought a 2-acre hillside estate in Bel Air for $88 million, making it the sixth-priciest home purchase in the history of Los Angeles. In addition to 30,000 square feet of living space housed in six glass-walled structures, the ultramodern property has four outdoor pools, a spa and wellness center, a full-sized basketball court, and a 15-car garage. Despite holding Forbes’ title of the highest-paid celebrity couple in the world, with a combined fortune of $1.16 billion, Beyoncé and Jay-Z took out an eye-popping $52.8 million mortgage from Goldman Sachs for the purchase, The Los Angeles Times first reported. That leaves the couple with a huge monthly payment of $149,600, according to the loan document, which is public record. The national median home value, for comparison, is $200,700.

All hail the Queen.
