Water Activities in Berlin, Germany
The Spree River is overly polluted for swimming. However, locals have not been prevented from taking a dip in their native river on warm summer days. The Badeschiff is a cargo container that has been converted into a clean swimming environment. It is located along the banks of the Spree, and was opened in 2004. Near the pool entrance is a bar, and lively music is often playing throughout the day.
The AquaDom is the world’s largest cylindrical aquarium. Opened in December 2003, it measures 25-meters, or over 80-feet high. The aquarium contains well over 2000 fish of 56 different species. Tourists are able to descend through the center of the AquaDom through an elevator, which gives impressive views of the sea life within.
Whether swimming, riding the current in a cruise boat, or exploring sea life, Berlin has something for every water-lover.
