Some games will live forever as Classics. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be taking a look at Capcom’s 1985’s iconic adventure game “Ghosts ‘N Goblins.”

First debuting in the arcades, this platformer was quickly ported to several platforms, including the Nintendo Entertainment System.

Taking place in the dark ages, players play the role of Sir Arthur, a knight who must rescue Princess Prin Prin. As the game opens, she has been kidnapped by Satan and taken to the Demon World.

On his long and perilous quest, Arthur must battle a slew of undead creatures, including zombies, ogres, dragons and spirits. To help him accomplish this, players must pick up and make use of various weapons, power-ups and armor.

Insanely difficult, it is also considered to be one of the most challenging video games ever created. In fact, it only takes two hits to cost you a life when equipped with armor. And even if you don’t get hit, you must complete each level before the time runs out.

Even more treacherous is what happens once reaching the final boss. There, you’re informed that your adventure has been nothing but “a trap devised by Satan.” To save the princess you must replay the entire game on a higher difficulty setting. Only then will you be able to take on the true final battle and rescue her.

Currently available for Nintendo’s virtual console for download, Arthur has since returned in several sequels, and as a fighter in the cross-over brawler in 2011’s “Marvel Vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.”
