New York State's second most populous city, Buffalo is found in the western part of the state. The city is located near a number of important bodies of water, including Niagara Falls and one of the Great Lakes, Lake Erie. Blessed with a mixture of ethnicities, the culture of the city is a diverse one. Buffalo also boasts a rich history, which has left the city with remarkable and famous architecture and landmarks. Weather and Climate Guide


The weather in Buffalo is typical of continental climates, with long winters complimented by sunny and dry summers. Spring and autumn are relatively short compared to these two seasons.

While the city of Buffalo itself has a population of roughly 270 thousand, the Buffalo-Niagara Falls metropolitan area comprises well over one million residents. The region is also home a number of thriving international communities and ethnic neighborhoods, which represents the cultural diversity of the area.

Also, Buffalo’s Guaranty Building is considered one of the world’s first skyscrapers, and it still stands in the city today as a National Historic Landmark.
