#20: James Corden

The Englishman, who co-created “Gavin & Stacey”, enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame in Hollywood as a talk show host. His program, “The Late Late Show with James Corden” became known for unique segments like “Carpool Karaoke” and “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts”. Unfortunately, his own behavior brought him down. He once joked about Harvey Weinstein at the 2017 amfAR Gala, receiving heavy backlash. Then, there was the time he got banned from a New York food joint because of his allegedly ‘abusive’ behavior toward a server. Of course, we can’t forget how he ticked off Patrick Stewart at the 2010 Glamour Awards, and the accusation that he stole a Ricky Gervais joke. All of this eventually led to the man being canceled.

#19: Jennifer Lawrence

“The Hunger Games” star was once an ‘it’ girl. Fans loved her, critics lauded her, and she even won an Oscar at the age of 22. Her candor, sense of humor, and endearing quirks made her seem authentic and relatable. When she tripped at the 85th Academy Awards, it cemented her girl-next-door image. However, when she fell again at the 2014 Oscars, she was labeled an attention-seeker. Things started to go downhill from there. Her friendship with convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein was widely criticized in light of his crimes. She was accused of romancing her “Passengers” co-star Chris Pratt while he was married to Anna Faris. Her relationship with the much-older Darren Aronofsky was also considered problematic. Eventually, the J.Law fever passed.

#18: Katy Perry

This pop star’s fall from grace seemingly happened all of a sudden, but not without reason. Following her exit from “American Idol”, fans were excited for more music from her. However, when they found out her comeback single “Woman’s World” was co-written and co-produced by Dr. Luke, a.k.a the man whom Kesha sued for indecent assault, they turned on her. After her album “143” came out, it was widely considered a flop. With the addition of her controversial trip to space, courtesy of Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin, public tolerance finally ran out.

#17: James Franco

With his golden boy looks, acting talent, and knack for comedy, this star reached dizzying heights of success. It’s a shame that he chose to misuse his influence. He was accused of sexual misconduct by several women. Many of them were his students, who claimed he exploited and defrauded them. If that wasn’t bad enough, he was even involved with a minor. In addition, actress Busy Philipps claimed in her memoir “This Will Only Hurt a Little” that Franco was violent toward her once during their time on “Freaks and Geeks” together. The actor has tried to make a comeback, but the reception hasn’t been particularly warm.

#16: Adam Sandler

The “Happy Gilmore” star is one of the most prominent names in comedy, but he has long been associated with questionable stuff. His casting team was once accused of sexism by actress and activist Rose McGowan after a script she received for an Adam Sandler movie allegedly ‘encouraged’ cleavage exposure. He has faced allegations of cultural insensitivity, too. While working on Sandler’s film “The Ridiculous 6”, several actors reportedly walked off the set, offended by how it was portraying Native Americans. Though his movies remain commercially successful, critics have called them uninspired and repetitive in recent years. Sandler has also been criticized for casting his close friends in them. Naysayers have long claimed he’s a ‘sellout’ and that reputation apparently hasn’t left him yet.

#15: Shia LaBeouf

When he rose to fame as a Disney star in “Even Stevens”, fans were in awe of his talent and potential. However, his career lost momentum when he got caught up in a series of scandals. Professionally, he was accused of plagiarism multiple times in his career. In his personal life, he was arrested twice for disorderly conduct. His ex-girlfriend, FKA Twigs, took him to court, accusing him of sexual misconduct and emotional abuse, and singer Sia claimed he hurt her emotionally. Shia also struggled with alcohol use disorder. He was so drunk at a “Cabaret” performance at Studio 54 once that he disrupted the show and was arrested. On top of all this, LaBeouf has a history of racism. His reputation hasn’t recovered yet.

#14: Mel Gibson

The “Mad Max” star has made such wildly out of pocket comments in his career, that he was previously blacklisted in Hollywood. He once publicly voiced his homophobia in an interview with El País. In 2010, his private audio tapes were leaked, where he can be heard making misogynistic and racist remarks to his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, who accused him of domestic violence. When he was arrested for a DUI, he reportedly went on an anti-Semitic rant, and according to Winona Ryder, he allegedly called her an anti-Semitic slur. If all this came out today, he would be canceled seven ways to Sunday. Shockingly, he’s still active in the entertainment industry.

#13: Russell Brand

The stand-up comedian and presenter made a successful transition to acting, but his controversies overshadowed his career. He has reportedly been arrested several times, once for attacking a paparazzo, and other times for his substance use. However, the worst of his reported crimes has to be sexual assault. Multiple women have accused him of sexual misconduct over the years, including singer and actress Dannii Minogue. What’s worse is that one of his supposed victims was a minor. Allegations of emotional abuse have also been made against him. Brand, who has recently drawn attention as a polarizing conspiracy theorist and podcaster, is now facing legal action for his alleged wrongdoings.

#12: Ellen DeGeneres

The famous comedienne and talk show host went from America’s sweetheart to a public villain. Her whole image was built around spreading happiness and being kind. However, in 2020, several former staff members of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and one individual who was working on the program at the time claimed they had experienced a toxic work environment. The allegations, which were published on Buzzfeed, detailed instances of problematic behavior, including racism, from upper management. Ellen was called out for her alleged lack of accountability regarding the treatment her employees were facing, especially at the hands of the show’s executive producers. She even admitted on “Today” that she ‘had no idea’ about it, which didn’t exactly help her case. Ellen eventually concluded her iconic show.

#11: Zachary Levi

The “Shazam!” actor’s downfall happened because he didn’t keep his questionable opinions to himself. Levi, who’s a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, even told Variety that some people in the entertainment industry are unwilling to work with him because of his beliefs. These beliefs include his comments about the COVID-19 vaccine. He claimed it contributed to the untimely death of Gavin Creel, who passed from cancer, and considered Pfizer, which made the vaccines, a global threat. Following these comments, actress Laura Benanti, Levi and Creel’s “She Loves Me” co-star, claimed he was a mansplainer and an energy vampire. He also received backlash for his apparent annoyance with the SAG-AFTRA strike, though he later clarified he wasn’t against it. The controversies significantly disrupted his career.

#10: Ashton Kutcher

This former teen heartthrob once had a reputation as a staunch human rights activist for his work with Thorn: Digital Defenders of Children. This was an organization he co-founded with his ex-wife, Demi Moore, to prevent the exploitation of minors. However, he had to resign from his position as the board chair after people found out he supported disgraced actor Danny Masterson after he was convicted of sexual misconduct. The “Jobs” star, along with his wife, Mila Kunis, wrote character letters to the judge asking for leniency. This prompted massive backlash against the couple. Demi’s memoir “Inside Out”, where she says Ashton cheated on her and shamed her for her alcohol use disorder, did nothing good for his reputation either and left fans disillusioned.

This Israeli actress rose to fame for her extraordinary beauty, winning Miss Israel in 2004 and landing a star-making role as Wonder Woman in the 2017 movie of the same name. However, public opinion quickly turned on her when critics panned her for her questionable acting skills. Her political views, especially her support for Israel, earned her much criticism, too. When Gal received her Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2025, the ceremony was reportedly met with disruption by pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli protestors. Speaking to Variety, Gadot said she was ‘shocked’ by the public vitriol against her.

#8: Lena Dunham

The “Girls” creator’s talent has been overshadowed by the countless controversies she has courted. She wrote in her book “Not That Kind of Girl” that one Barry from Oberlin College sexually assaulted her. A man matching her description of Barry then sued her, after which she clarified ‘Barry’ was a pseudonym. In the same book, she wrote about her inappropriate encounters with her younger sibling, Cyrus, in their youth, raising eyebrows. Dunham also once defended Murray Miller, a writer on “Girls”, after he was accused of indecent assault by Aurora Perrineau. Her insensitive comments about pregnancy termination, framing it as an experience she wished she could have to empathize with women who have gone through it, landed her in hot water, too.

#7: Amy Schumer

The Emmy-winning comedian has faced quite a diverse range of scandals. Her popularity started declining when she kept being accused of plagiarism. Many of her jokes were said to be stolen from comedians like Kathleen Madigan and Wendy Liebman. She has been criticized for making racist jokes, is often accused of being a fake feminist, and was called out by Ashley Graham for seemingly having double standards about body positivity. Her infamous parody of Beyoncé’s “Formation” with Goldie Hawn, Wanda Sykes, and John Cusack was also slammed for appropriation. More recently, Amy sparked outrage for her comments about the Israel-Hamas War. The “Kinda Pregnant” actress can’t seem to get away from controversy.

#6: Lance Armstrong

Big Tex rose to dizzying heights of fame in professional road cycling. So, his fall from grace was just as staggering. Lance Armstrong, who once won the Tour de France seven times in a row, lost those titles and an Olympic bronze medal after he admitted to using performance-enhancing substances. It was also said that his team members allegedly faced pressure from him to use banned substances. Following this scandal, the Le Boss myth came crashing down, and Armstrong’s career was basically over. He was barred from participating in any sanctioned bicycling events. Lance hasn’t quit riding bikes, but his career these days is more focused on a media company called WEDŪ, which he founded.

#5: Roseanne Barr

She used to be a TV darling, but her own actions brought her down. Barr once did a distasteful Hitler-themed photoshoot, claiming it was satire. She has also been denounced for spreading conspiracy theories on X. In one, she claimed philanthropist George Soros was a Nazi collaborator. In another, she seemingly implied David Hogg, who survived the Parkland high school shooting, had thrown up a Nazi salute at a March for Our Lives rally. She was even sued for sharing the address of George Zimmerman’s parents on X, after their son took Trayvon Martin’s life. The actress, who’s famously pro-Donald Trump, also triggered outrage after making a racist post about Obama Foundation CEO Valerie Jarrett on the platform. As a consequence, “Roseanne” was canceled.

#4: Kanye West

The hip-hop G.O.A.T’s apparent radicalization needs to be studied. Kanye West, who goes by Ye now, has made so many controversial statements in recent years that his views have a whole Wikipedia page of their own. From espousing antisemitic rhetoric to identifying as a Nazi, calling slavery a choice, and wearing a White Lives Matter shirt, Ye has done it all. In addition, he’s also reportedly anti-vaccine and anti-abortion. That’s not all! The rapper and Trump ally has seemingly supported extremely problematic individuals, including Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Bill Cosby, both of whom have multiple sexual assault allegations against them. He has since apologized for his antisemitism, but the damage done to his reputation seems to be irreversible.

#3: Kevin Spacey

“The Usual Suspects” actor was highly respected in his heyday. His empire came crashing down when several people, including actors Anthony Rapp and Roberto Cavazos, accused him of sexual misconduct. He denied the claims and was found not guilty, but his career never returned to its former glory. In 2024, he drew backlash for visiting the Gaza border alongside pro-Israel journalist Douglas Murray, reportedly to see a friend’s daughter who was in the Israel Defence Forces. The following year, he was spotted alongside Bill Clinton and Ghislaine Maxwell in photographs released as part of the Epstein files detailing Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes. In a 2024 interview with Piers Morgan, Spacey admitted to having no money and ‘no home’, but public sentiment against him hasn’t changed much.

#2: Sean Combs

The rapper and Bad Boy Records founder has had numerous run-ins with the law throughout his career. However, nothing could bring Diddy down from his throne. That was until his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, sued him for alleged sexual assault. She also accused him of sex trafficking and being violent toward her. The case was settled, but it launched a series of sexual misconduct lawsuits against him. Some of his alleged victims were said to be minors. Combs was ultimately found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, for which he is now in prison.

#1: Bill Cosby

He was once called America's Dad. However, Bill Cosby’s illustrious career went up in flames after comedian Hannibal Buress drew attention to the sexual assault allegations against him during a 2014 stand-up act. Multiple women had accused Cosby of sexual assault by then, with the earliest allegation dating back to 1965, but these claims did not attract mainstream media attention. Once the accusations resurfaced in 2014, more women came forward, saying they were sexually assaulted by Cosby, shattering his spotless image. He went to prison for the aggravated sexual assault of Andrea Constand, though his conviction was overturned due to a technicality. He was also found liable for sexually assaulting a woman when she was a minor and was ordered to pay damages to her.
