#20: The Snap Created Mutants

Thanos snap had major ramifications for the MCU. After all, it led to the Blip, the event where half of all life in the universe was wiped out. While the snap disrupted Earth and the rest of the galaxy, what if it also disrupted the genetic structure of people too? Maybe the shenanigans of the stones triggered the activation of the X-gene, the thing that turns people into mutants. This theory might not be as far-fetched as it sounds. Age of Ultron and WandaVision played with the idea of the mind stone having a connection to Wandas powers. So could we see the MCUs X-Men be formed by the Snap? Its definitely a possibility!

#19: Wakanda's Herb Led to Super Serum

This superpowered nation has been home to many innovations, both technological and medical. The heart-shaped herb for example is a big deal. It gives whoever consumes it enhanced abilities. With that in mind, the herb could be crucial to the super soldier serums creation. You might remember that Wakandan vibranium was used to create Captain Americas shield. With that in mind, is it that far off to think their herbs couldve been a special ingredient for the serum? Plus, if this is true, it could explain why Dr. Erskine never wrote down how he made it. If he did, he would have risked revealing Wakandas existence to Hydra. This theory is a neat way of further showing Wakandas importance within the Marvel universe.

#18: Tony Stark Recreated Uru

Isnt it baffling how Tony invented a brand new element in Iron Man 2 only for it to be forgotten? For such a major accomplishment its basically an abandoned plot point. Thats why its fun to speculate about what that element Tony made could actually be. Some have guessed that the unnamed mystery element is really the MCUs version of Uru. Granted, it does already exist as the material that Mjolnir is made of. However, maybe when Tony invented his new element, he actually unknowingly recreated Uru. If you look at the Iron Man technology and Thors hammer there are some cool similarities with how they operate. With Vibranium and Adamantium now prominent parts of the MCU, maybe its time for Uru to make a comeback!

#17: Baron Zemo Accidentally Made Typhoid Mary

Mary Walkers time in the military took a terrible turn when she was stationed in Sokovia. Mary and her army squad were captured by the Sokovian Armed Forces and subjected to brutal torture. The trauma that she endured was so bad it caused her mind to fracture, leading her to develop dissociative identity disorder, a condition which leads her to be known as the villainous Typhoid Mary in the comics. Based on how ruthless her captors were, these Sokovians couldve been EKO Scorpion. That was a death squad within the Sokovian Armed Forces under Helmut Zemos command. If we build off this, that means Zemo wouldve been largely responsible for what happened to Mary. Its a chilling connection that could make one killer responsible for the creation of another.

#16: The Punisher Was Blipped

Frank Castle made a stunning return to the MCU in Born Again. It was great seeing Punisher back, but fans quickly noticed some small changes with him. He was more grizzled and erratic, and also popping pills. Normally we can write off his disheveled look since hes always preoccupied with the murder of his family, but what if there was something else in here too? What if his strange look and medication were because getting brought back from the Blip was too jarring for him? While Born Again didnt address if Frank was blipped, that doesnt technically mean he couldnt have been disintegrated by Thanos. Look, if we got dusted by a purple alien and brought back half a decade later, wed be disoriented too!

#15: Nebula & Gamora Were Always Sacrifices

Thanos killing his own daughter to get the Infinity Gauntlet was a seriously cold-blooded move. Though if this particular theory is anything to go by, then Thanos is even worse than we thought. It suggests that he already knew that getting the Soul Stone would require a sacrifice, which is why he adopted Gamora originally. She was supposed to just be a loose end that he could eventually get rid of, but Thanos later developed a real fondness for her. Thats why he soon brought Nebula in and pitted her and Gamora against each other constantly. That way the two bickering sisters would go get the Soul Stone and Gamora could sacrifice Nebula instead. Its manipulative, cruel, and totally something the Mad Titan would do!

#14: Gorr Killed Khonshu During His Murder Spree

While we know that Gorr killed lots of gods as part of his revenge scheme against all divine beings, most of them were just d-list deities. Heck, a lot of these murders were completely glossed over. But if he was mowing down immortal jobbers, maybe he visited the Egyptian pantheon for a real challenge and crossed paths with their moon god. We dont really know any details about Moon Knights MCU return yet, which means that Khonshus status is up in the air. Its not impossible to think that Gorr squared off against Khonshu off-screen and even killed him. At the very least this theory makes him a more compelling villain since hed have killed a god we actually knew about instead of just random ones.

#13: Peter Parkers Parents Died in 9/11

The MCU took an interesting less-is-more approach with their version of Spider-Mans backstory. We didnt get much information about Uncle Ben, and we got even less info about Peters parents. His folks havent always been a focal point of Spider-Man lore, but one theory provides some interesting ideas for what couldve happened to them. Given how old Peter was at the start of Homecoming, some have speculated that his parents passed away because of 9/11. If the MCU added an historical event like this to Peters family background, itd recontextualize a lot of his past. But even though it could definitely be a plausible explanation for their absence in Peters life, its obviously a pretty wild theory, and one that might never get confirmed.

#12: The Eternal Phastos Created the Ten Rings

When the Eternals discover that they arent meant to be Earths saviors but instead its destroyers, they put together a last ditch effort to save the planet. This leads to Phastos creating powerful bands for them that look kind of like the Mandarins Ten Rings. The similarities got heads turning to say the least. One theory even claimed that the Eternals were actually the ones who invented the Ten Rings. Phastos couldve easily created them thousands of years ago where theyd eventually be discovered by Wenwu. Considering how important the Ten Rings are, this theory would make Phastos look like even more of a great inventor. Itd also enrich the history of the Ten Rings by infusing it with the mythology of the Eternals.

#11: Thanos Name Reveals Where the Infinity Stones Are

This is a theory that we can fully admit is a bit of a stretch, however, its a super fun theory nonetheless. An argument can be made that Thanos name is actually a giant clue for where the Infinity Stones are. The theory treats his name as an acronym. The first three letters stand for tesseract, heart, and aether, while the last three stand for necklace, orb, and scepter. When you put all of those nitty-gritty details together it roughly lists out the locations of the Infinity Stones. Theres not an exact science to this theory, sure, but the idea that the Infinity Stones are so connected to Thanos that even his name is essentially a map for them is a really interesting idea!

#10: Bucky Barnes Killed Peter Parkers Parents

When Peter was initially introduced to the MCU, we kind of skimmed right past his family origins. By the time No Way Home ended, we still didnt know what happened to his parents. But some fans have theorized that Peter shares a dark similarity with his mentor Tony Stark. They believe that the parents of both heroes were killed by the Winter Soldier. According to the theory, Peters mother and father worked for S.H.I.E.L.D. After they discovered Hydra agents had infiltrated the organization, Bucky Barnes was sent to assassinate them both. This theory would definitely add a dark undertone to Peters fight with the Winter Soldier in Civil War.

#9: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Doesnt Take Place in the Main Universe

Although Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. referenced Marvel movies, the show felt disconnected from the MCU. None of the main characters appeared in the movies and the Avengers didnt know Coulson came back to life. Additionally, the shows major public conflicts werent really referenced in films. After years of confusion, the multiverse may have cleared things up. Theorists speculate that S.H.I.E.L.D. takes place in a completely different timeline. Although Coulson died in the original Avengers, there might be a very similar branch reality where he lived. This would explain how Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D can feel connected to the MCU while having a few key differences.

#8: Dormammu Bargained on Purpose

Dr Strange used a time loop to prevent Dormammu from attacking Earth. But what if losing was part of the villains plan? Before fighting the doctor, Dormammu may have had his disciples scope out universal threats. Maybe the dark dimension villain learned about the mad titans hunger to complete the Infinity gauntlet. Once Dormammu encountered the time stone, he realized how to get rid of the doctor. The villain pretended to bargain because of the cosmic item to convince Strange to keep it close. He knew it would be a matter of time before the doctor and Thanos collided. So, the dark dimension villain waited to see his foe fall. Since the time stones gone, Dormammus bargain wouldve been extremely successful.

#7: Steve Rogers Is on the Moon

This is both a conspiracy theory in the MCU and out of it! Following Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers goes back in time, lives a full life and becomes an old man. But the public is told he died during the battle with Thanos. However, most people dont buy it. And to be fair it wouldnt be the first time everyone thought Cap was dead and he turned out to be alive. One of the more outlandish theories within the universe says that hes residing in a secret base on the moon. This could just be a running joke in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. However, we have seen live-action Marvel characters live on the moon before. Will Cap confirm thats where he lives today?

#6: Tony Stark Survived as an A.I.

Look, we all wish Iron Man had never died. Even if the way it happened was awesome. But some fans suggest that he didnt diecompletely. In the comics, Tony survives as an artificial intelligence, much like those he installs in his suits. The live-action movies have already provided a villain that survived through digital means. And supporters of this theory point to the moment where his hologram purposely turns to his daughter during his last message to her. Was that advanced tech, or did his digital consciousness just want to look at Morgan directly? Maybe the answer will be revealed when we hear Tony snarking at someone wearing an Iron Man suit.

#5: Nick Fury Has Been a Skrull Since Age of Ultron

The conclusion of Spider-Man: Far From Home reveals the Nick Fury weve been following in the film is actually the Skrull Talos. Fury met that shapeshifting alien back in Captain Marvel. After this reveal, we learn that the real Fury is out in space. So, fans began to question when exactly the switch took place. One theory posits that it took place sometime before Avengers: Age of Ultron. This is due to a surprisingly minor detail. In Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers demands Fury provide her with a detail a Skrull would never know. He claims to hate toast cut diagonally. However, in Age of Ultron, Fury is seen eating bread that had a diagonal cut. Did Furys tastes change? Or was Talos already impersonating him?

#4: Tony & Nebula Knew What Would Happen on Vormir

While the directors of Avengers: Endgame have confirmed that Nebula didnt know a loved one needed to be sacrificed to obtain the Soul Stone, fans have their doubts. Some have posited that she told Tony about what happened on Vormir while they were stranded together. When it came time for the heroes to retrieve the stones, Iron Man and Nebula knew which duo to send. After all, while all the Avengers are close, Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff have known each other the longest and have one of the strongest bonds. And Tony didnt want to risk losing heavier hitters like Hulk there. Its possible Iron Man and Nebula conspired to sacrifice a friend to guarantee the soul stone was acquired.

#3: Thanos Wanted to Stop the Celestials

Thanos goal was to curb overpopulation in the universe by erasing half of all life. He also explains that his own world fell to ruin because of this issue. However, some fans theorize there was more to it than that. In Eternals, we learn that Celestials are huge beings that emerge from planets when enough intelligent life forms on them. Their births destroy worlds. However, the Thanos Snap delayed the Emergence on Earth because the population was temporarily reduced. Given that the big bads brother is an Eternal, it seems plausible that Thanos knew about Celestials. What if the mad titans goal was to stop the destruction of entire planets by preventing their populations from getting big enough to let the cosmic beings emerge?

#2: Dr. Strange Lied About The One Way

Despite Dr. Strange seeing millions of possible outcomes of the Avengers' fight against Thanos, the good sorcerer claims that they only succeed in one of them. By now, everyone and their mother has pointed out the obvious thats incredibly unlikely. Fans have thought up plenty of possible magical and non-magical ways that Thanos could've been defeated. But some believe none of those takes were used because Strange may have lied intentionally. While using the time stone, Strange may have seen outcomes where there were more Avenger casualties. Maybe the doctor saw timelines where he himself died. So, when Strange found a timeline where only a few Avengers died to win, he sold the lie by saying it was the only way.

#1: Odin Once Sought the Infinity Stones

While Hela is in Odins treasure vault, she says the Infinity Gauntlet is a knockoff. Maybe she knows what a real one looks like because her father tried to collect stones. The Space Stone was first found in Norway, where Asgardians were once worshiped as gods. Odin may have known the Aether AKA reality stones location since his Dad Bor hid it. But the darkest part of the theory revolves around the soul stone. After learning Hela is Thors half-sister, we realized we dont know what happened to her mom. Maybe Odin sacrificed her mother for the soul stone, returned it afterwards out of regret and decided to stop conquering. This would explain why he suddenly locked up the warmongering Hela and focused on peace.
