You're either with them, or against them. Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Video Game Cults.

Since we already have a list on the Top 10 Fictional Religions in Video Games we need to distinguish the difference between a religion and a cult. For the sake of this list, any following that has a dominant presence in their game's respective worlds such as the Coveneant from the Halo series is considered more a religion than a cult, thus ruled out of this list.

#10: Warriors of Sunlight
“Dark Souls” (2011)

Rule number one about joining a cult: always inquire about the benefits. Players who swear their undying loyalty to Lord Gwyn's Firstborn gain access to the power of the sunlight in the form of lightning magic. The higher a follower grows within the ranks the more miracles they'll gain, along with higher precedence to online to co-op covenant events. With all the many perks the Warriors of Sunlight grant their followers, loyalty is something they don't take lightly, as a player will be stripped of their sunlight spear as well as half their sunlight medals if they were to ever betray them.

#9: Citizens of Rapture
“Bioshock 2” (2010)

Without a functioning society, people are inclined to believe anything. The initial philosophy of Rapture was a society for those who sought to rid themselves of the governmental and religious constraints of the upper world, however it was this very freedom that led to its downfall. In its wake came remaining citizens who were lost and without meaning, leaving them all too susceptible to the word of Sofia Lamb. Converting the citizens to her ideology on how to recreate the society allowed her to forge her own Rapture Family, a group who sought to turn Sofia's daughter Eleanor into a Utopian.

#8: The Epsilon Program
“Grand Theft Auto 5” (2013)

If it walks like a cult, talks like a cult, then it's probably a cult. Cayman Islands native Chris Formage founded the Epsilon Program under the false pretense that it was a religion. His followers call themselves epsilonists and base their beliefs in the existence of multiple paradigms. Under their deity Kifflom, the epsilonists follow 12 tenets and of course, donate to their church in exchange for salvation and merit badges. Becoming a loyal follower of this cult takes not much more than submitting a simple survey on their website and pledging you're undying loyalty... or dignity.

#7: The 6th House
“The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind” (2002)

A cult doesn't always require a designated leader, just an ideal. House Dagoth is the sixth house of the Great Houses of Morrowind. During its time the House was ran by Voryn Dagoth, a Chimer lord that would soon see his demise in the Great War due to treason. With his House dismantled, Dagoth sought refuge in the Red Mountain for many millennia until his power and influence grew strong enough to call out to the remains of the Sixth House, thereby creating Dreamers who seek to fulfill his will.

#6: Happy Happyism
“Earthbound” (1994)

Want to guess this cult's favorite color? Upon discovering the Mani Mani statue's hypnotism powers, Mr. Carpainter set out to make the people of Peaceful Rest Valley see the world in his vision, blue. Those recruited draped themselves in blue cloaks and wandered the town with blue paintbrushes while chanting the color. The Happy Happyism cult had successfully convinced themselves that painting the world peace would bring peace, and that all those that didn't agree opposed them.

#5: The Treeminders
“Fallout 3” (2008)

Here's a group of people that bring a whole new meaning to the term “tree hugger.” The respect that the Treeminders hold far the Earth has transcended into following the word of a mutant that has taken the shape of a tree. This tribal bunch can be found inhabiting the Oasis and quite literally live off the fruit of the land. While the cult has taken a solemn stand against modern technology, they can still be found employing the use of firearms to protect their sacred land.

#4: The Order
“Silent Hill” series (1999-)

One tip when in the presence of this doomsday cult. Don't drink the cool-aid. In hopes to bring about the apocalypse and to achieve salvation, this delusional organization takes part in sacrificial rituals that quite often involve the use of young children. Through means of drugs and brainwashing, The Order has successfully recruited the majority of Silent Hill residents into their twisted religion, which hasn't only rendered most of them insane, but responsible for the evil entities that plague their town.

#3: The True Eye Cult
“Dead Rising” (2006)

Nothing like a zombie apocalypse to bring the crazies out. The origins of the cult is something of a mystery, however they've been discovered to have taken refuge in Colby's Movieland in Willamette Parkview Mall during the outbreak. Donning yellow raincoats and green masks, the followers roam the mall in search for survivors to sacrifice, as their leader, Sean Keanan has convinced them all that they'll be spared the undead's wrath if they do so. Often seen traveling in packs, The True Eye cultists Arm themselves with knives, knockout gas, and explosives, as they'll also resort to suicidal attacks when all seems futile.

#2: The Unitologists
“Dead Space 3” (2013)

There are those that refuse to believe that we've been put in this universe alone, and then there are those that force others to believe it. The Church of Unitology came about from scientist Michael Altman's research of an ancient alien artifact that made its way to Earth called the Black Marker. Under Altman's findings, the artifact's markings transcribed the fact that human beings were creations of an alien race, and that man's purpose was to reunite with our makers in Heaven. The false teachings prompted its followers to partake in sacrificial rituals as well as suicide to achieve atonement.

Before we unveil our pick for Top Video Game Cult, here are a few honorable mentions:

Strega
“Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3” (2006)

Clock Tower Cultists
“Clock Tower” (1995)

Grimleal
“Fire Emblem Awakening” (2012)

#1: Los Illuminados
“Resident Evil 4” (2005)

Cult followers often stake their minds and bodies for their religion, but what's the price for one's soul? Originating in ancient Europe, this religion based its teachings on a parasitic organism called the Plaga that subjects its host to a zombified murderous behavior. Upon obtaining possession of the Plagas, The cults leader Osmund Sadler, and Napoleon wannabe Ramon Salazar infected the better half of a small rural region in Spain, whilst Sadler implanting himself with the Dominant Species Plaga so that he could assume control. Recognizing his vast influence, Sadler sought to infect the President's daughter, Ashley Graham so that his reach could spread throughout the entire world.
