Top 10 Untucked Moments from RuPaul: Season 11
Grab those fans - it’s about to get shady up in here! Welcome to MsMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the top ten moments from Season 11 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked”.
For this list, we’ll be choosing the best and most memorable moments from the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” aftershow. As we’ll be discussing things from the main show too, a spoiler warning is now in effect.
#10: Yvie Oddly And Silky Nutmeg Ganache Squash Their Beef
“Drag Race” has seen its fair share of enemies, and Season 11 is certainly no different. Yvie Oddly and Silky Nutmeg Ganache worked up a typical showgirl vs. quirky queen rivalry. Both had strengths the other was lacking in: Yvie couldn’t compete with Silky’s big personality, while Silky struggled to produce looks as unique as Yvie’s. The pair butted heads almost every other episode, until finally - following their contrasting “Snatch Game” performances, Yvie extended the olive branch. To her dismay, Silky was having none of it. By the twelfth episode, though, Silky’s narrow escape from elimination brought her defences down, and she finally accepted Yvie’s apology after admitting she’d been unwilling to show vulnerability.
#9: The Queens Gush Over Nina West
Looks like this really is “RuPaul’s best friends race,” after all! During her time on “Drag Race,” Nina West quickly became the heart and soul of the season. After getting off to a rough start in the first episode’s main challenge, Nina bounced back with a hilarious turn in the second, and continued her upward streak from there. Her “Dragacadabra” performance was Nina at the peak of her powers, and - rather than get bitter about her success - her fellow contestants showered her with praise in “Untucked.” That’s because Nina is not only super talented, but super kind, too, which was reflected in everyone’s admiration of her. “Untucked” is infamous for its spats, so it was refreshing to watch a love-in, instead.
#8: A'keria C. Davenport's Call From Her Family
By this point, “Drag Race” contestants know that when that TV gets wheeled into the “Untucked” lounge, the tears are about to start flowing. Due to the stress of the competition and being cut off from their loved ones for weeks, a call from home can trigger a big emotional response, but none so big as A’Keria's. As soon as the faces of her mother and grandmother flashed up on screen, A’Keria has a complete breakdown. Wailing, crying, hopping around, and eventually collapsing to the floor while hyperventilating. Though it was massively over the top, it was heartwarming to see how much her family meant to her. Plus, the two ladies were really adorable.
#7: Nina West’s College Trauma
The mother hen of Season 11 broke our hearts when she told the other girls about the horrific bullying she experienced in the late ‘90s at college. The trouble started when she ran for student office as an openly gay candidate, a courageous move that sadly made her the target of homophobic abuse. Nina recounted how she had slurs written across her door and even received threats of violence. She was particularly fearful at the time because it was happening in the shadow of the murder of gay college student, Matthew Shepard. Thankfully, with the support of her family, Nina made it through that difficult time, and her resolve to become an activist for her community was only made stronger.
#6: Ra’Jah O’Hara Calls Out Scarlet Envy For Saying She Should Go Home
It’s the moment every “Drag Race” queen dreads! The moment when RuPaul asks: Who should go home tonight and why.” While the contestants squirm, the viewers at home grab the popcorn and watch the drama unfold. Season 11’s sixth episode didn’t disappoint on that front. Following the “Draglympics” maxi challenge, Scarlet Envy was singled out by every member of the losing team. When it came to Scarlet’s turn to answer Ru’s question, she initially refused, but eventually settled on Ra’Jah O’Hara. Scarlet’s reluctance to choose her didn’t soften the blow for Ra’jah, who then came for her in “Untucked.” She even stated that Scarlet should have picked herself.
#5: Wig Gate
When Ariel Versace left the competition in the fifth episode of Season 11, she left behind a whole heap of hair-related trouble. Apparently, the outgoing queen sashayed away in such a hurry, she left a few of her wigs behind, which ended up being snatched up by some of the other girls. When queried about how she came by the hair, Plastique Tiara was certain that - as Ariel’s BFF - Ariel had intentionally left them behind for her, specifically. The others girls weren’t so sure, though. When Ariel returned to the show for the makeover challenge, it wasn’t long until “wig gate” was raised. An annoyed Ariel cleared up the confusion, adding that she expected the missing hair to be returned to her.
#4: Silky Nutmeg Ganache vs. Yvie Oddly
What would a season of “Drag Race” be without a pair of bitter rivals? Much like Sharon Needles and Phi Phi O’Hara in Season Four, Silky and Yvie just couldn’t see past each other’s different styles of drag. Silky didn’t understand Yvie’s DIY, out-of-the-box aesthetic, describing it as “spooky dooky” and “trash.” Meanwhile, Yvie didn’t understand what the judges saw in Silky, even going so far as to label her “talentless.” It all came to a head in episode seven, when Yvie took offence to Silky unfairly telling RuPaul that she should go home because of her leg injury. Yvie clapped back that Silky’s mediocre outfit meant she was coasting on being safe, leading to this masterful moment of shade.
#3: Ra’Jah O’Hara Calls Out Plastique Tiara For Lying
Plastique Tiara just never seemed to get her stories straight, at least according to Ra'Jah and A'keria. After pointing out that her lack of Mariah Carey knowledge was down to her only recently learning about Western pop culture, she had no trouble with any other references on the show. But, hey - maybe she’s just a fast learner. Then, Plastique got a call from her boyfriend in “Untucked,” and A’Keria and Ra’Jah’s BS detectors started pinging. Ra’Jah was already feeling jealous that Plastique got to cry on Ru’s shoulder about her family not accepting her drag career. So, when A’Keria thought Plastique’s boyfriend gave conflicting info, Ra’Jah’s fuse was lit…And then went out again. As Brooke Lynn Hytes commented, the confrontation fizzled out before it really began.
#2: Silky Nutmeg Ganache: “I Was Ready To Lip Sync!”
From the moment she set foot in the werk room, we could tell Silky was going to be a lot to handle. While big personalities are more than welcome on “Drag Race,” Silky managed to wind up the other queens in record time. But, to her credit, she didn’t let this dampen her spirits. In the third episode of “Untucked” in Season 11, Silky - or, Doctor Nutmeg Ganache, as Ru prefers - took personal offence at being deemed just “safe” after the main challenge. The other girls were rightfully confused by her lack of gratefulness at making it through. Then, out of nowhere, Silky suddenly ripped off her outfit, and came out with this instantly quotable line: [Silky: “If I had to lip sync for my life [pulls off outfit] I was ready to do so! I was ready!”] Yvie Oddly, in full jellyfish realness, had the perfect response: [Yvie: “What does that have to do with anything, bitch?”]

#1: Yvie Oddly vs. Vanessa Vanjie Mateo
It was the smackdown nobody saw coming. Yvie Oddly’s brutally honest reads of the other queens were refreshing to begin with, but as tensions mounted, it wasn’t long before her attitude started to wear thin on Vanessa Vanjie Mateo during the season’s seventh episode. Yvie confronted Vanjie, accusing her of choosing her to be sent home because of petty reasons. It wasn’t long before their exchange heated up, taking Vanjie from zero to a hundred so fast we all got whiplash just watching it! Though Yvie tried to defend herself, Vanjie was - as she always is - a force of nature, with the spat only ended by Yvie removing herself from the warpath. Once again, Brooke Lynn’s reaction to the drama was priceless.
