Top 10 Times Judge Judy Crashed Out in Court
#10: Zippo!
If theres one thing Judge Judy cant stand, its a tenant who doesnt pay rent. In this case, plaintiff Leslie Wilson sues a former landlord for an illegal eviction, but the judge quickly susses out that Wilson did not pay rent for several months. Thats when things get a little crazy. The judge tells her shes getting zippo, as in nothing, nada, zero dollars. This isnt what Wilson wants to hear, and she argues with the judge, which is never a good idea. It just sends Sheindlin into a spiral of repeating herself like a broken robot, screaming the word nothing until shes understood.
#9: Photographic Evidence
Judge Sheindlin is known for her hot temper and cool, methodical mind. Shes going to get the truth out of you whether you know it or not. The judge knows exactly who this defendant is. Although she denies she damaged her exs car, theres photo evidence, which delights the judge to no end. She waves the photos in front of the defendant like shes trying to get a childs attention, repeating the words at the car until she cant deny it anymore. Sometimes, you just have to beat them down with logic.
#8: What Did He Just Say?
Judge Judy loves to make mincemeat of liars and scammers, but every now and then, one comes along who brings out her sadistic side. Defendant Davon Henderson mutters under his breath that he wouldnt be honoring her ruling. The judge instantly locked in, threatening to withhold his appearance fee and plane ticket home until the return of the dog he wrongfully took is secured. This is her at her scariest. She doesnt lose her temper, but she does drop all the formality of TV court shows and lets this guy know that if he wants to fly home, hes going to honor the verdict.
#7: Throwing Out a Disruptive Defendant
Courtroom misbehavior is a sure way to get Judge Judy not to listen to you. Its also the fastest way to get yelled at. The judge already has the interrupting co-defendant sitting down with the witness when she insists on getting up to interject once again. This woman has already demonstrated she cant listen to reason. Instead, the judge just commands her to sit like a dog. The judge shows an abnormal amount of forgiveness when she gives her another chance, only to get fed up and throw her out when she interrupts yet again.
#6: DONT SPEAK!
This case of an out-of-control girl and her adult sister picking fights with other schoolmates has Judge Judy frustrated with an entire family. Between the daughters with anger problems and a mother whos all but given up on parenting them, the judge is fed up throughout this whole story. At one point, one of the defendants has the bright idea to speak out of turn. Judge Judy gives her one of the scariest courtroom warnings of all time. She tells people not to speak so often. This time, we felt her genuine anger deep in our souls.
#5: Dont Interject Unless I Ask!
A home rental goes wrong, and landlord Ellen Schneiderman has a good case. Her only problem is that she cant stop talking. Shes so bad at waiting her turn that the judge actually goes nonverbal at one point because she cant figure out exactly what she wants to shout at her. The most amazing thing about this case is how annoying the defendant acts, and still doesnt get thrown out of the room. In fact, she ends up winning. If her case werent as strong as it is, we get the feeling the judge would have ruled against her as quickly as possible just to get her out of earshot.
#4: Super Seriously!
Shaughnessy Fahy, with his smiley-face tie and sob stories, sues his friend over an illegal eviction. Judge Judy has very little patience for his slippery approach to his case. Fahy is pretty good-humored about the judges low opinion of him. But once the case was over and she ruled against him, his utter disbelief at the decision drove her over the edge. Judge Judy can make a complete vibe switch in the same breath sentence. Like most of the times when the judge loses it in court, its usually when shes trying to shout someone else down. This was just unmitigated rage at this guys antics.
#3: No, No, No
Did you know Judge Judy is a musical? The judge was clearly feeling herself this day. When the plaintiff has to produce the title to a Jeep, she opts for the judges least favorite excuse. She was told that she didnt need it. Judge Judy immediately starts to launch into a marathon of nos like shes scat singing in a jazz band. This is like watching Judge Judy riff on a theme. When the woman repeats herself later on in the case, we almost get a reprise. Honestly, is there a remix of this yet?
#2: Close Your Mouth, Sir!
Even Judge Judy isnt immune to letting the intrusive thoughts win sometimes. A car accident case sees a defendant shocked to be blamed for the collision. Hes in such disbelief that his mouth is hanging open for most of the case. Usually, Sheindlin dresses litigants down with her words. But here, she just mimics the guys dumb look right to his face. Its the kind of thing the rest of us wish we could do on a daily basis when someone annoys us. When you get a golden opportunity like this, you cant pass it up.
#1: Youre a Moron!
Most of the time, Judge Judy can rein in her righteous anger. Even if she yells, she can dial it back when she offers an explanation. In this early case, shes so disgusted with defendant Cathleen Kreftmeyer that she rants at her for a solid minute. Kreftmeyer confesses to telling her young daughter that her father is not her biological father. Not only was this untrue, but the daughter was far too young to hear that information. Judge Judys fury is unmatched here. She calls Kreftmeyer a moron, and explains, in agonizing detail why shes a failure. Every time we think shes done, she gets right back to screaming at the dumbfounded defendant.
