#10: Nadhim Zahawi

Where were you in October 2022 when Liz Truss crashed the economy? Former Tory MP Nadhim Zahawi was on “Question Time” to answer for the government’s blunders, only to find himself going toe-to-toe with Piers Morgan. With energy prices still skyrocketing and the stock exchange plummeting, every decision Truss made ended in disaster, and all Morgan wanted was an apology to the public from somebody – ANYBODY – in power. Zahawi went on and blamed Putin for all of our woes, saying that he’d be against Truss’s plans to tackle the cost of living crisis. He was widely mocked, the audience siding with Piers. Zahawi just kept going, trying to twist Piers’s words until Fiona Bruce intervened.

#9: Holly Willoughby

It takes a lot to rile up Holly Willoughby, but this woman, Cheryl Prudham, managed it back in 2016. Prudham, a mother of twelve who claims she’s a baby addict, was raking in £40,000 a year in benefits to take care of herself and her children. Holly was horrified, not knowing how Prudham lives with herself claiming all those benefits, having even more kids, and refusing to work for more than sixteen hours a week. But there was no talking to her. However, things have changed since 2016; years later, Prudham was handed a suspended sentence for handling stolen cash. The kicker? It was the stolen cash, not the benefits, that was used to play for her infamous Menorca holiday.

#8: Gemma Collins

She came onto the ice rink that week spoiling for a fight with one person in particular: Jason Gardiner. The resident nasty judge, Gardiner was booed by the audience when he criticised her routine and the effort she’d put in. She had a comeback, however, accusing him of selling stories about her to the newspapers. All of this was going out live, and the two got into a bust up. Her partner Matt Evers didn’t know where to look, with Holly Willoughby eventually having to intervene while Collins and Gardiner took lumps out of each other. The audience was clearly on Gemma’s side, though, and appreciated the effort she’d made.

#7: Nigel Farage vs Alastair Campbell

In 2017, nearly a year on from the Brexit referendum, the result was still being debated and dissected – as it unfortunately still is to this day. Nigel Farage and Alastair Campbell – one of Tony Blair’s most notorious strategists and spin doctors – just could not have a civil conversation during this “GMB” appearance. Despite having Piers and Susanna there to mediate, they went after each other, with Farage boasting of his biggest political success while Campbell criticised Farage’s flimsy grip on reality. It all came back to Boris’s Brexit bus, as it often does, with Campbell insisting that certain economic promises had been made on the bus’s livery, while Farage said that that wasn’t the case.

#6: Zara Holland

The former Miss GB was ruthlessly stripped of her title after getting it on with one of her fellow singletons in the “Love Island” villa. Outraged, she then did the media rounds to insist that she wasn’t sorry and was dead against the decision. She was accused of tarnishing the brand name of Miss GB and bringing shame onto the beauty pageant, while she adamantly refused to give up her crown. Joined by her usurper, Deone, Zara was LIVID. The tabloid press later started spreading rumours that things got even more heated after they left the “Loose Women” studio, though Holland later reappeared to insist that that wasn’t true. They’d only “exchanged words”.

#5: Martin Lewis

The nation’s favourite financial expert Martin Lewis is never off our screens these days, but in this appearance, big tech was in the firing line. In 2018, he announced he was suing Facebook – now Meta – after the company allowed fake ads illegally featuring his image to circulate on the site. Despite Lewis constantly reporting the ads, Facebook barely tackled the problem, even though he was being used as a fake spokesman for financial scams involving cryptocurrency and worse. He accused Facebook of being defamatory by allowing the ads, damaging his reputation. In the end, the claim was dropped when Facebook finally offered to do something about the problem.

#4: Piers Morgan

What outburst is more memorable than Piers Morgan pettily storming off his own set? Very few, though he did eventually come back – temporarily. After another morning of slating Meghan Markle, all in the wake of her tell-all interview about her mental health, he was given the mildest bit of pushback from Alex Beresford and promptly stormed off. We all know what happened next: he quit “GMB”, leaving Susanna Reid to pick up the pieces the following day. Ever since, she’s been joined at the desk by the most contentious broadcasters ITV can find, Jeremy Kyle and Richard Madeley chief among them. It almost makes you miss Piers.

#3: Ian Hislop

Like Martin Lewis, Ian Hislop’s anger was deserved and well-placed in this segment on “Peston”. In the aftermath of ITV’s dramatisation of the Post Office scandal, which Private Eye had been covering regularly for years, Hislop appeared as a guest. The Horizon system was first implemented by Labour, but the growing scandal was overseen by the coalition and then the Tories alone – but all three parties played the blame game. Hislop called them out, going for Jake Berry for attempts to say the Lib Dems were more responsible, saying that the entire political establishment was to blame for not acting sooner. He’s right: it shouldn’t be down to ITV to ensure that these people get justice.

#2: Ben Shapiro

While he was still the most feared interviewer at BBC News, Andrew Neil took on Ben Shapiro, who didn’t seem to have any idea who he was. As Neil tries to point out to Shapiro, he has the tendency of taking the opposite position to whoever he’s interviewing because it makes for a better interview, but Shapiro doesn’t understand what’s going on. He accuses Neil of being leftwing, when he’s always been openly centre-right in politics, and dislikes Neil bringing up his own quotes and asking about them. He then infamously stormed out of the interview after fifteen minutes of Neil’s ruthless questioning.

#1: Kim Woodburn

After her fiery tenure in the “Celebrity Big Brother” house, the late Kim Woodburn soared to new levels of fame. She had a bombastic interview on “This Morning” where she took Phillip Schofield to task while Holly Willoughby cowered in the corner, but later, was plied into appearing on “Loose Women”. There, she came face to face with her mortal enemy, Coleen Nolan, whom she accused of being two faced and manipulating the game so that she could win. Woodburn was firmly on the side of Jedward, the runners up, and was so upset by the “Loose Women” stunt that she ended up walking off the programme in tears. There were masses of Ofcom complaints.
