AMC's The Walking Dead VS Telltale' s The Walking Dead

When the lines between living and dead are blurred, every survivor counts. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be counting down the Top 10 Characters from TellTale’s The Walking Dead. For this list we’ll be looking at any and all characters from Seasons 1 and 2 of the series, be they good, bad, or something in between. Be warned, spoilers ahead! Enjoy!

#10: Alvin

Whether it’s denial or a genuine love of life, this soon to be father is as compassionate as they come. Alvin is one of the rare survivors with something left to live for — and it shows. Still not ready to be frightened by a little girl, he comes to Clem’s defense when she first shows up at the cabin without warning. Alvin is more than a kind and able-bodied survivor, he’s a father figure in a group of people afraid to take action.

#9: Carley

Of the survivors you meet during the early days of the outbreak, few are as grounded or reliable as Carly. Her career as a reporter has given her a keen sense of justice and she isn’t afraid to make it known. Carly’s quick wits and reasonable attitude make her council invaluable to Lee, setting up a close friendship between the two. Carly keeps her head in the game, and when tempers run high, she is crucial to the group’s survival — it also doesn’t hurt that she keeps a gun around.

#8: Omid

Omid keeps things upbeat. What he lacks in leadership or physicality, he makes up for in spirit. This intellectually driven character doesn’t live in denial or fear, he’s living in the moment making the best of things. Considering the circumstances, even Omid’s troubles seem everyday: a hurt leg, light bickering with his SO, and imminent parenthood -- not even the apocalypse can keep him down. For Lee and Clem, Omid’s friendship is validation that there are still kindhearted people in the world, that humanity still exists when the dead walk.

#7: Jane

Empathy might not be her strong suit, but Jane is the kind of character you want to get to know. Content to let the group make their own mistakes, Jane is the quintessential lone wolf. What makes Jane such a fascinating character isn’t that she’s stoic or powerful, but that she’s so intent on mentoring Clementine. Unraveling Jane’s past, and imagining how Clem might grow-up to resemble this hardened adult is one of the series’ most thrilling dynamics.

#6: Charles

Charles, or ‘Chuck,’ is a vagabond that the group meets briefly while passing through a train yard. Despite being a secondary character, in a lot of ways Chuck represents The Walking Dead universe as a whole. In any other context this group of individuals —these people— might have ignored a homeless man plucking away at his guitar, but at the end of the world everyone has worth. Charles is a mysterious figure, but we know he’s kind, generous, and wise — a life as valuable as any other.

#5: Luke

Luke is an incredibly likeable character. He’s filled with hope and empathy, but also distrust and indecision; for that reason he’s one of the most relatable characters in the series. With every look he shoots Clementine we know the wheels are spinning in his head just like they are in ours. When trust is such a commodity having someone like Luke around to share the load with is a relief — how could we endure the apocalypse without him?

#4: Carver Season 2

Carver is the scariest kind of villain. Fuelled by an intense, twisted rationality, Carver is an insatiable tyrant that thinks his motives are just. During his first —intimidating— appearance in the story, Carver interrogates a visibly uncomfortable Clementine. Anyone else would have show up with guns to make their point known, but Carver enjoys twisting the knife — giving everyone a chance to let the horror set in. Carver is coming, and there’s nothing you can do about it.

#3: Kenny

When Lee and Clementine meet Kenny he’s volatile and confrontational, but is also a caring father, and a soon to be good friend. For all his problems, Kenny is there through thick and thin, proving over and over again that everything he does is for the people he loves. Kenny is the most resilient character in the entire game — a tortured spirit, but a good soul. He’s seen it all, and some more, but still manages to find reasons to go on.

#2: Lee Everett

Walking Dead: Final Season Episode 1 Review - MojoPlays

Owning up to your mistakes is hard. Explaining them to a small girl, one of the very few left on earth, is harder. Every choice Lee makes is for Clementine’s benefit, whether it’s steering her moral compass or showing her how to survive. Between his infamous past, his role in leading the group, and having to look after Clem, Lee is responsible for the past, present, and, most importantly, the future. Lee isn’t only an avatar for the player, but a brilliant, deeply interesting character on his own. Before we get to number one, let’s take a look at some honorable mentions. #1: Clementine Season 1

Clementine is at the heart of what makes TellTale’s The Walking Dead so special. Watching Clementine grow-up and develop as a character is an incredibly rewarding experience. Unlike so many other kid characters, Clementine is cool, funny, and a joy — a subtle mix of individuality and childlike innocence. But more than that, Clementine has become the face of a new classic series, and a character that’ll be cherished for years to come. For everything she has seen and does, she’s still our Clementine.
