For this list, we're ranking the most infamous and iconic villains from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. This means that we will be taking into account not only the original comic book series from creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, but also the classic animated series from the late eighties, the live action films, as well as other incarnations of the Turtles throughout the years.
10: Hun

The Purple Dragon gang have always been a thorn in the sides of our heroic turtles, but these determined street toughs gained an even stronger upper hand when this devious and ambitious leader took charge. Hun has also served as a nemesis not only to the turtles, but also their ally Casey Jones, having engaged in fierce battles with the hockey-masked vigilante on a number of occasions. Of course, that's also when Hun's not pushing the Purple Dragons to grow from their roots on New York's Lower East Side into one well-oiled crime syndicate.

The bizarre alternate universe known as Dimension X sure has housed quite an array of turtle villains over the years. Lord Dregg has proven to be one particularly nasty antagonist against our amphibious heroes, serving as a replacement for Shredder during the final two seasons of the 1987 animated series. Indeed, Dregg's status as a merciless alien warlord made him a formidable foe indeed for these heroes in a half shell, appearing once again in the 2012 animated series episode, "Beyond the Known Universe," cementing his reputation as a villain to be feared.

John Bishop has proven to be something of a double edged sword since his debut during the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, serving as both antagonist and ally towards the turtles in varying situations. More often than not, however, this U.S. government agent is attempting to foil any alien invasion of earth, often at the expense of our heroes. Bishop even went as far to kidnap the turtles during his season 3 debut, with the intention of dissecting them, proving that this government agent is determined to get to the bottom of the turtles' mutated origins...at just about any cost.

The villainous Triceratons have engaged in numerous battles with the turtles over the years, documented in both the Mirage comic book series, as well as the animated universe. The original Mirage Studios design of these evil alien dinosaurs actually predate the turtles, debuting in the Fugitoid micro series issue 1 from 1985, although the two would eventually battle it out during a story arc which begins in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Volume 1, issue number 5 from 1987. The Triceratons, led by their leader Commander Mozar, are no idle threat, and remain an integral entry into the turtles' Rogue's Gallery.

This next villain on our list has been both friend and foe to the turtles over the years, with all of his appearances serving as memorable fan favorites. The Rat King first appeared in the Tales of theTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4 comic from 1987 before transitioning over to the series animated universe. The Rat King has primarily served as an antagonist towards the turtles, yet his telepathic ability to communicate with rodents gives him a particular psychological edge over their master Splinter, where his shrewd intelligence and determination makes him a fierce and wily foe.
#5: Karai
Honor and duty are integral aspects to the complex and mysterious enigma known as Karai. Background stories for Karai differ, but one constant aspect of the character is her standing as a high ranking ninja in Shredder's Foot Clan syndicate. Indeed, Karai's martial arts skill and natural affinity for swordplay has proven a consistent challenge for the turtles, particularly Leonardo, with whom she has dueled on a number of occasions. Whether described as Shredder's adopted daughter, student, or next in line for Foot Clan leadership, her reputation as villain to be feared is clear as crystal.

The character of Baxter Stockman has transcended the original Mirage comics into every animated version of the turtles, along with his army of mechanical rat-hunting monsters, known as mousers. Stockman's original comic incarnation was a brilliant but unhinged scientist who utilized these mousers in bank robbing attempts before adapting a powerful cyborg body. Meanwhile, fans of the 1987 cartoon will recall Stockman's unfortunate mutation into a hideous fly creature in the season two episode "Enter: The Fly." This brainy and devious madman poses a serious threat to the turtles in any incarnation, however, making Baxter Stockman one of the turtles' most dangerous villains.
#3: Bebop and Rocksteady
These two iconic mutant baddies are among the most revered of the entire Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe, with appearances spanning numerous medium in the franchise. The origins of Bebop and Rocksteady can be traced back to the debut episode of the 1987 animated series, "Turtle Tracks," where they're presented as street toughs who suffer a humiliating defeat at the hands of the turtles. The duo are experimentally mutated by Shredder, and join his army, battling the turtles on numerous occasions. Whether played as comedic cartoon foils or as serious-minded comic villains, Bebop and Rockstready's status as true fan favorites within the series is secure.
#2: Krang
Second only to Shredder in terms of infamy when it comes to classic Ninja Turtles villains, Krang hails from the alternate universe of Dimension X, and is but one of an entire race of Krang. Older fans are probably most familiar with Krang's incarnation from the 1987 cartoon, where he is depicted as an exile from Dimension X; an alien commander whose punishment for military failure was to have his brain ripped from his body and sent to earth. He soon join forces with the Shredder, dons a humanoid exo-skeleton, and battles the turtles, determined to dominate his new home, at any cost. His name is Oroku Saki, but he's most commonly known as The Shredder. This villain's origin spans the entire run of the turtles universe, often serving as their most mortal enemy. Shredder is aninja master covered in razor sharp armor; a ruthless and cunning villain who commands the crime syndicate known as The Foot Clan. The 2003 animated series also featured the Utrom Shredder, an alien named Ch'rell which utilizes an exo-skeleton to battle the turtles. As two sides of the same coin, Shredder's history will always be intertwined with that of the turtles and Splinter, with their battles serving as some of the most emotionally poignant in the franchise.
