Top 10 Rewatchable Anime

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re counting down our picks for the anime that are the most fun to watch again and again!

#10: “Death Note” (2006-07)

If you think a supernatural thriller like “Death Note” isn’t just as gripping after the first time, then you’re dead wrong! We never tire of watching Light Yagami’s game of cat and mouse with L. Each new move in their elaborate chess match with lives on the line is as fascinating as it is entertaining. If anything, it can be more rewarding after multiple viewings, since you’ll be more familiar with how the titular Death Note’s rules work. The series is loaded with memorable moments and each new twist and turn is worth experiencing all over again

#9: “One Punch Man” (2015-)

To quote the greatest fan anime song ever, “One Punch Man forever!” This series is endlessly rewatchable, thanks to its fantastic blend of impeccably animated fight scenes, gut-busting humor, and fascinating world of heroes and monsters. Saitama’s ennui about being the strongest hero alive is simultaneously sympathetic and laugh out loud funny. While the first season is arguably easier to rewatch, given its more self-contained plots and more fluid animation, season 2 is still fantastic, particularly if you’re into anti-villains and serialized plots. And given how long season 3 is taking, we kind of have no choice but to watch the show again and again to satisfy our craving for more!

#8: “My Hero Academia” (2016-)

While we’re on the subject of rewatchable superhero anime, “My Hero Academia” is another one that never fails to save us from boredom! Watching Izuku Midoriya and his classmates strive to become heroes is as inspiring as it is entertaining. Seeing it all from the beginning merely makes you appreciate how far they’ve come. Plus, this loveable cast of characters is just fun to see interact, even without all the action, drama, and comedy. It’s one of the longer anime to make our list, but the pacing is brisk, and it flies by. Even so, there are tons of moments that will always make us hyped, no matter how many times we watch them!

#7: “Gurren Lagann” (2007)

Whether you’re looking to relive Simon and company’s journey to pierce the heavens with their drills or you just need a reminder to pursue your own goals, it’s never a bad time for more “Gurren Lagann!” This mecha epic is such a perfect blend of action, themes, and character development, that it needs to be witnessed multiple times to be believed! The hotblooded pursuit of tomorrow and greater heights is just as glorious the second or hundredth time! After all - a drill doesn’t rotate just once! It’s true power comes through repetition!

#6: “Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14)

Sometimes you just want to watch “Hunter x Hunter” so “you can smile again~!” This epic adventure series takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions regardless of how many times you watch it! Gon’s adventures, and those of everyone he encounters along the way, make for incredible viewing. The world of the show is amazingly detailed, with attention given to everything from rules of fictional games to the system of special abilities they use. It’s so complex that repeat watches are almost necessary to let it all sink in. And that’s not even touching on all the epic action, touching friendship, and heartrending developments that permeate the story! “Hunter x Hunter” has us in pursuit, even after we’ve caught up!

#5: “Jujutsu Kaisen” (2020-)

Few anime have quite the unique blend of genres as “Jujutsu Kaisen.” Its mixture of shonen action, horror, and comedy keeps us on our toes, just as the characters are caught off guard by each new development. The series has major shake ups multiple times per season, along with jaw dropping and creative fight scenes. The young Jujutsu sorcerers’ battles against curses are so captivating we can’t help but revisit them. Plus, we’re also drawn in repeatedly by the hysterical comedy and the endless source of rizz that is Gojo!

#4: “Attack on Titan” (2013-23)

Perhaps the most hyped anime of the last decade, “Attack on Titan” may have ended, but that hasn’t stopped us and many other fans from reliving the hype all over again, multiple times! The saga of Eren Jaeger’s struggle against the Titans and the worst of humanity is full of mind-blowing twists that just hit differently after the first time. In addition, the phenomenal character development, incredible soundtrack, and stellar fight scenes are all worth revisiting. “Attack on Titan” is a titan of an anime that we’re absolutely relentless in attacking with our attention - and we’re never letting up!

#3: “Cowboy Bebop” (1998-99)

True space cowboys never tire of “Cowboy Bebop!” The beloved anime classic following the misadventures of the crew of the Bebop has been entertaining fans for decades. Along with the unforgettable, iconic moments sprinkled throughout, most episodes stand on their own, making it easy to pick up and revisit for casual viewing. The Bebop crew themselves are just a joy to watch, no matter how often. Of course, the series’ legendarily awesome soundtrack helps make revisiting the show an absolute vibe as well! “Cowboy Bebop” is a timeless look into the future that we always seem to find time to return to.

#2: “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” (2019-)

The expression “every frame a painting” may as well have been made for this anime! Tanjiro’s quest to return his sister’s humanity after she’s turned into a demon is not only emotionally gripping - it’s drop dead gorgeous! The fights in “Demon Slayer” are crisp, fluid, and as beautiful as they are exciting! Along with the unlimited budget poured into the animation, the storytelling is powerful and emotionally charged, with each backstory tugging on the heartstrings more than the last! The humor’s not too shabby either! “Demon Slayer” may leave you as breathless as its characters after a battle, yet we still can’t help but want to inhale it like oxygen!

#1: “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” (2009-10)

It’s only natural that one of the most highly regarded anime of all time is also the most rewatchable! “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” hits so well on every level - the story is both personal in stakes, yet also grand in scale. The music is astounding. The battles are spectacular. The cast is huge, yet everyone somehow gets a chance to shine! The world and magic are well-realized and fleshed out! It’s funny and tragic in equal measure! “Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” is the complete package - and it’s impossible to take it all in after just one viewing! The price of immortality is high in this show, but so long as we keep watching, our enjoyment of it will never die!
