Do you take this dog to be your husband? Say what? Yes, we said it. There are some very unusual couples and absurd weddings on this list, including SAL9000 and his sim bride, Nene Anegasaki, a couple who exchanged vows while bungee jumping, a man and his manufactured doll, a naked wedding, marrying their dead spouse and more.

Top 10 Most Talked about Weddings Ever

While Ariel was desperate to get to the surface, Sebastian taught us that under the sea was the place to be. Maybe that’s why some couples want to get married underwater. There’s websites dedicated to providing the perfect aquatic love story, but one couple in particular wanted to have a more thrilling experience. Enter Atlantis Marine World in New York, where Michael Curry and April Pignataro wore black and white wetsuits and were wed inside of a giant shark tank. They were, of course, protected by a cage, as sharks, eels, and other sea creatures gave their blessings... kind of.

#9: The Maxxiest of Maxxinistas

We all have a happy place to retreat to for those extra stressful days. Sometimes, that place is perfect for some retail therapy, and we walk the aisles looking for a good deal on shoes, dresses, veils, rose petals, a vine covered arch... or maybe that’s just Lisa Satayut and Drew Ellis. Lisa proved to be T.J. Maxx’s customer of the century when she and her fiancée got married at one of their Michigan locations. And did we mention the store was open to the public during the ceremony? Sometimes, you have to share more than a good bargain with your customers.

#8: Do You Even Know That Many People?!

Always a bridesmaid, as they say, and some brides have plenty to spare. According to the Guinness Book of World records, there are a handful of women who have had over 100 bridesmaids at their wedding. It's fairly certain that most people don’t even know that many people – at least not well enough for bridesmaid duties. As of 2015, the record for most bridesmaids goes to Tina Ackles who put 168 of them into action for her nuptials. One can only imagine the bridal shower would be a spectacle to behold and full of much needed pep talks, but coordinating two friends is hard enough, let alone 168.

#7: You May Now Kiss the Dog

Is there any better companion than man’s best friend? Even so... that wagging tail isn't usually enough to entice anyone into marrying our four-legged friends, but maybe a curse is? That’s what one man did years after he stoned two dogs to death, and later fell victim to a series of maladies. Not all humans who marry outside of their species do it out of guilt, some, like Bimbala Das, feel they owe their lives to their hissing companions, and others, like Sharon Tendler, wait 15 years before they wed their dolphin love.

It’s easy to feel like you’re floating on cloud nine as you share your vows with the person you love. For Jeroen and Sandra Kippers, that cloud was 160 feet above the ground. Yes, you can kiss the bride high in the sky, then take the ultimate plunge via bungee jumping. The Belgian couple were the first to ever walk the airborne aisle with 20 guests as their witness. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a floating reception where the entire party was strapped to their seats while they ate. Much like scuba weddings, there are other couples who have decided to take a literal leap of faith in holy matrimony.

#5: She Ain't A Gold Digger Love works in mysterious ways: a statement we’re sure a man like Davecat lives by. After meeting the beautiful Sidore Kuroneko at a goth nightclub in 2000, the couple wed... well, that’s the love story Davecat has come up with. In reality, “Shi-chan” is a manufactured doll. To Davecat, Shi-Chan is the perfect woman. She never asks for money, never stands him up, and never talks back. Things took an unexpected turn with the addition of the sexy synthetic-Russian, Elena Vostrikova, who fell in love with Davecat after seeing him in a documentary. Strangely, Shi-Chan doesn't seem to mind.

#4: A Handheld Bride

The dating scene can be tough to navigate, but we suppose that isn’t the case for SAL9000, a Japanese man who discovered the secret to successfully dating: “LovePlus.” The Nintendo DS dating sim introduced him to Nene Anegasaki, and it was a digital match made in heaven. Their wedding was viewed by thousands on the Internet, with SAL9000 in a white tux as he lovingly held his DS next to him. Of course, the marriage isn’t actually a legal one, but SAL9000 feels that Nene is better than any human girl out there.

#3: Birthday Suited Up

The wedding dress is the most important clothing piece of the ceremony, so we can understand why some brides go a bit... nuts. Why not save yourself the trouble and get married naked? That’s exactly what Ellie Barton and Phil Hendicott did. The Australian couple were wed in front of 250 guests with Ellie dressed in a veil and... not much else... while Phil’s top hat concealed his marital staff. The nudity isn't even necessarily the oddest part about this– no, the oddest part is that the couple's wedding was hosted and sponsored by a radio station, and other stations have since copied the idea.

#2: Me, Myself, & I

We’re often told that there’s someone for everyone, even if that someone is, at times, an unconventional choice. Other times, that special someone has been staring back at you your entire life. There are numerous examples of people who take a solo walk down the aisle and various reasons behind it, but there’s a certain unbelievable grace to Liu Ye’s wedding. With 100 guests in attendance, the groom stood at the altar with a foam cut-out of himself in a beautiful Chinese dress. Ye -- a self-proclaimed narcissist -- was perfectly blunt in his nuptials: he was dissatisfied with reality. Before we get to our number one pick, let’s toss the bouquet toward these honorable mentions: The Longest Bridal Train Gravity of Love This Wedding is a Gas

#1: Death Won't Do Us Part

Top 10 Wildest Theories About Life After Death

It’s one of the most horrific moments to deal with: the death of a loved one -- especially when you’re getting married. However, there are a number of couples who didn’t let death do them part. Whether it’s the tragic joint wedding and funeral for Sarinya Kamsook, or the heartbreaking morgue ceremony for Kevin Lavelle, their still living significant others pledged their lives to them. While none of these marriages were legally binding, there have been cases in France where they are, because of a little-known civil law that allows posthumous marriages if the living party is able to prove that a marriage had been planned. Do you agree with our list? What are some unbelievable ways that people have gotten married? For more top tens for you to honor and cherish, be sure to subscribe to MsMojo.
