After his son goes missing, a clownfish by the name of Marlin sets out to find him with the help of his forgetful companion, Dory. After a particularly jarring setback, Marlin decides to give up and head home. In order to stop him from leaving, Dory says this tear-inducing line. It may not initially sound as romantic as some of the others on our list, but much like when Olaf told Anna that “Some people are worth melting for,” it takes on a whole new meaning when coming from a partner rather than a friend.

“Up”’s melancholic first sequence succinctly summed up Ellie and Carl’s decades-long relationship, from when the young adventurers first met and decided to go to Paradise Falls, to Ellie’s heartbreaking death. Throughout their time together, they kept having to use their travel fund for other things, and Carl spends much of the film feeling like he let Ellie down from all the “stuff she was going to do.” However, near the end, just when he needs one last pick-me-up from his best gal, he finds this note, realizing that though she didn’t go on the adventure she expected to, she wouldn’t trade the one she got for the world.

The “boy who never grew up” has had some pretty memorable lines over the years, but few carry the same emotional weight as this one. Jealous of Peter’s newfound interest in Wendy, Tinker Bell spends much of the film pouting. In order to convince her that she has always been his number one, Peter says this line to knock all worry and uncertainty out of her mind. Wow, we just melted. For a kid, Peter sure knows how to smooth things over with the ladies.

After saving Prince Eric from the wreckage of a burning ship, a mermaid named Ariel sings to him, dashing off before he can see her face. Eric becomes enamored with the memory of her voice and vows to find his musically gifted savior. A short while later, he discovers her on a beach, and in a moment of joyful astonishment, remarks, "You're the one, the one I've been looking for." Even though he won’t realize how right he is until much later, it’s a tender moment between two characters who have finally found exactly what they were searching for: a chance at true love.

After being turned into frogs, Tiana, a young woman with dreams of becoming a restaurateur, and a Prince named Naveen, embark on a journey to regain their humanity. Though Tiana’s philosophy of working hard to achieve her dreams is admirable, she has lost sight of achieving a balance in life - that is, until a smooth-talking, mucus-covered prince opens her eyes. Naveen’s transformation in the film is far more than just from a human into an amphibian; by the final act, he shows that he’s willing to put someone else before himself. What both Tiana and Naveen come to realize, though, is that - warts and all - the life they want is one where they’re together.

Whereas most Disney romances involve a lot of charm and googly eyes, this one was a little different. Hercules and Meg are far from a match made in heaven, with the latter openly mocking the titular hero for much of the film. However, in the third act Meg sacrifices herself in order to protect Hercules. As she lays dying, Hercules cradles her and asks why she would do such a thing, which is when she finally admits how she feels. Wonderboy proves himself a true hero by going to save her soul from the Underworld, which does seem like an impossible and crazy task, but, well… we’ll let Herc tell you.

Despite being a prisoner in the Beast’s castle, adventurous bookworm Belle slowly starts to chip away at his rough exterior, ultimately winning his affection and eventually, her freedom. Before leaving, the two characters share a dance together and it becomes abundantly clear that they’re hopelessly in love with one another. The moment ends when Belle witnesses her father being persecuted by the villainous Gaston in the Beast’s magic mirror. The Beast accepts that Belle must leave, but decides to give her his mirror so that she will remember him. While kind of heartbreaking, the moment is nevertheless totally romantic, as the Beast has finally learned to open up thanks to Belle’s calm, loving demeanor.

As is often the case with Disney characters who fall in love, Pocahontas and John Smith are from completely different worlds. She is the daughter of a native chief and he is a soldier who’s just arrived in the New World. Throughout the film, their love for one another is constantly tested by the differing ideologies of their peoples. Midway through the movie, Smith is captured by Pocahontas’ tribe and sentenced to death. While being held prisoner, Pocahontas sadly remarks that everything would have been better if they’d never met. Smith rebukes her by saying that it has all been worth it. It doesn’t get much more romantic than that!

One of the most original Disney films of all time, “The Incredibles” connected with viewers thanks to its unique plot and cast of intrepid characters. Midway through the film, Bob Parr, aka Mr. Incredible, finds himself being held prisoner by the evil Syndrome. His family comes to rescue him, but wind up getting captured as well. While locked up together, Mr. Incredible express regret over putting his dreams of being a superhero again over his duty to his family. The realization comes full circle when he remarks that they are his greatest adventure. Hey, just because it’s aimed at his family doesn’t mean it isn’t romantic!

A rogue and thief, Flynn Rider, aka Eugene Fitzherbert, spends most of “Tangled” redeeming himself - and falling for Rapunzel. In the number “I’ve Got a Dream,” Eugene’s aspirations are solely material - and solo. As time goes on, though, he finally starts to “see the light,” admitting his blossoming affections to Rapunzel. It’s in the final act, though, when we really see how far Eugene has come. After being stabbed, Eugene sacrifices his chance at being saved to keep Rapunzel from being enslaved by Mother Gothel. As if that didn’t make his feelings clear, with his last breath, he spells it out for Rapunzel, who tearfully reciprocates. Even though it’s in dire circumstances, this exchange is incredibly romantic. Don’t worry, though, it all ends happy!
