Hailing from Hendersonville, North Carolina, Brothers Billy and Benny McCrary hold the Guinness World Record for being the heaviest twins in the world. At only 32 years old, the twins weighed 723 and 745 pounds respectively! The waist measurement of each was 2.13 meters. They won fame as tag team wrestlers, using their signature finishing moves “Tupelo Splash" and “The Steamroller”. Sadly, Billy died in a motorcycle accident in 1979; Benny lived on until 2001. Today, the brothers are buried next to each other in front of a fittingly enormous headstone.

Top 5 Ways to Kill Time on a Long Layover

We’ve all heard crazy stories about siblings separated at birth, but this one is especially incredible. It all began when Anais Bordier’s friend sent her a screenshot of a person from a YouTube video who looked like her doppelganger. After some research, the French girl living in London found out that the girl was named Samantha Futerman and lived in California. Anais and Samantha finally connected through Skype and realized they actually had a lot in common ... like the same mother, for example! The identical twins were adopted by two separate families at birth and were now reunited through social media. In 2015, a documentary called “Twinsters” was released detailing their incredible story.

#8: Lucy & Anna DeCinque

Australian sisters Lucy and Anna have everything in common - and not just their appearance. They eat the same dishes, have the same job, the same car, the same Facebook account and even the same boyfriend - mechanic Ben Byrne. They’ve also undergone numerous plastic surgery procedures together, although they’ve since reversed course on many of them. In 2015, they appeared on a Japanese game show, where they competed against another set of twins, and emerged victorious as the “Most Identical Twins in the World”. Well, we definitely cannot dispute that.

#7: Twins Charged for the Same Crime

These brothers may have committed the perfect crime. Identical twins Hassan and Abbas were suspected of robbing close to 6 million Euros worth of jewelry from a department store in Berlin, Germany. DNA found at the crime scene drove police to investigate both of them. However, there was no way to determine for sure which one of them did it! German laws require that each individual be charged separately and not together. They were therefore released, since there wasn’t enough evidence to incriminate one over the other. Either they were really lucky, or they thought this one through very carefully!

#6: Twin Sisters Give Birth to Twins on the Same Day

In 2004, 21 year old fraternal twins Ashlee Spinks and Andrea Springer both gave birth to twin boys on the same day in the same hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. They became pregnant at the same time, and after six months, both discovered they were expecting twins. The odds of this happening are incredibly low! Then again, they do have a lot of twins in the family, as do their husbands. We guess everyone around them should just get used to seeing double.

#5: Jennifer & June Gibbons

Known as “The Silent Twins”, Jennifer and June Gibbons communicated only with each other. Born in 1963, they grew up in Haverfordwest, Wales, where they were ostracised as the only black children in their elementary school. In their teens, they both wrote short stories and novels, but ended up committing several petty crimes and were sentenced to indefinite definition in a psychiatric hospital. They remained there for eleven years, until Jennifer died of inflammation of the heart. According to June, Jennifer sacrificed herself so that she could start communicating with the outside world.

#4: Kinsan Ginsan

Known in Japan as Kinsan Ginsan, sisters Kin Narita and Gin Kanie were the world’s oldest living twins. In fact, they both lived to be over 100, setting a world record. Born in 1892, their extraordinary longevity means that their lifetimes spanned THREE different centuries. Kin, whose name means Gold, lived until 2000, and Gin, whose name means Silver, until 2001. They became local celebrities, beloved for their long lives. They credited their longevity to each other, with Kin saying “We could survive because we were twins. We need each other more than anyone else in the world”.

#3: Twins Who Look Nothing Alike

These twins would have a tough time pulling off any sort of “Parent Trap” scenario. Lucy and Maria Aylmer are fraternal twins from Gloucester, England. Their father is Caucasian and their mother half-Jamaican. Lucy has pale skin and red hair, whereas Maria has darker skin with dark, curly hair. When they were born, their mother was speechless with shock. According to Lucy, people seldom believe that they’re twins, and often ask for proof. Their personalities are opposite too; Lucy is the shy one and Maria is more outgoing. This is one pair of twins that really break the mould!

#2: Abby & Brittany Hensel

Ever had trouble co-operating with your sibling? Well, sisters Abigail and Brittany Hensel probably have some tips for you. These conjoined twins from Minnesota have two hearts, two pairs of lungs, two spines, and two stomachs. Abby controls the arm and leg on the right; and Brittany controls the left. This means that from a young age, they had to learn to coordinate their movements carefully. By doing so, they can walk, run, swim, even drive a car. A Segway, however, proved to be a lot more difficult … They came to public attention with their own self-titled reality TV show in 2012. Before we get to our top pick, here’s an honorable mention: Twins Born Ten Years Apart Through the Miracle of IVF

#1: Twins Leading Identical Lives

The story of the Jim Twins is hard to believe. Born in Ohio in 1939, the brothers were adopted by different families. They were both named James, Jim for short. But that’s not the only coincidence: both had dogs named Toy and worked in security. As adults, both married women named Linda, named their sons James Allan, drove Chevrolets, and were chain smokers. Wait, it gets crazier. They also both got divorced and married women named Betty. They finally met at 39 years old and what a shock they must have had! Twins really do have an extraordinary connection.
