VOICE OVER: Samantha Clinch WRITTEN BY: Don Ekama
These "American's Got Talent" auditions went for the golden buzzer. For this list, we'll be looking at the most impressive movement auditions that were instantly sent ahead to the next round of competition. Our countdown includes Boogie Storm, Freckled Sky, Malevo, and more!

#10: Quin & Misha

During their Season 13 audition, this dynamic dancing duo stole the hearts of the judges, the audience and America as a whole. 71-year-old Quin and 35-year-old Misha did well enough to advance to the Judge Cuts. There, they had to strut their stuff in front of guest judge Martina McBride. Quin and Misha proceeded to deliver a breathtaking performance set to “Sax” by Fleur East. Their work had enough high kicks, lifts and spins to leave you dizzy and wildly entertained at once. The entire routine moved McBride so much that she hit the Golden Buzzer. Both performers went down to their knees before rising straight to the live shows.

#9: Malevo

Hailing from Buenos Aires, Argentina, this malambo dance troupe overcame daunting challenges to make it onto the “America’s Got Talent” stage. During the Judge Cuts, Malevo brought back the synchronized drum beating and riveting tap dancing from their phenomenal audition. The group took things up a notch by incorporating flaming boleadoras. This routine captivated the entire room so much that the judges got to their feet by the end. George Lopez, the guest judge for the night, certainly felt the heat too. When it came to give his critiques, the actor and comedian let his feet and hands do all the talking for him. Malevo moved on to the next round and ultimately finished as semi-finalists.

#8: Boogie Storm

“AGT: The Champions” had notable contestants from across the entire “Got Talent” franchise return to compete for a chance to be America’s chosen World Champion. The British group Boogie Storm first received a Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell on the tenth season of “Britain’s Got Talent”. After hitting the target on that show, they made a grand return on the second season of “The Champions”. They danced to a medley of pop songs for their preliminary performance. Since it was Howie Mandel’s turn for the Golden Buzzer, Cowell tried to convince him to give it to the group. When he refused, however, Cowell stole the opportunity for himself and rained down gold confetti on them. We’ve hardly ever seen Stormtroopers get that excited.

#7: Silhouettes

After coming in second place on Season 6 of “AGT”, the shadow play dance group Silhouettes were invited back for the second installment of “The Champions”. The group made use of shadows to tell a heartwarming story. Through movement, they tell the tale of an American soldier whose childhood dog helps her walk again after she returns home from war. Naturally, all the judges were up on their feet by the end of the performance. And we doubt there was a single dry eye left in the audience. Ultimately, Alesha Dixon, who was catapulted back to her own childhood by the routine, hit the Golden Buzzer and sent the group straight to the finals. We promise we’re not crying, you are!

#6: Mayyas

Hailing from Beirut, Lebanon, this all-female dance troupe first competed on and won the sixth season of “Arabs Got Talent” in 2019. They repeated the same feat on the seventeenth season of “America’s Got Talent”. This impressive feat made them the first act to win both AGT and an international version of the show. And honestly, it’s not hard to see why. In their introduction to the world, Mayyas put on an intricate display of their culture. Their hand and body movements were absolutely memorizing. That was all accompanied by choreography and synchronization was unlike anything you’ve ever seen. So, it came as no surprise when Sofia Vergara gave them the Golden Buzzer to kickstart their successful AGT journey.

#5: Light Balance

Combining elements of light, dance and a little bit of magic, Light Balance delivers performances that aren’t just dance routines: they’re experiences. One of their most tremendous displays came with their audition for Season 12 of “AGT”. For this landmark performance, the Ukrainian dance group totally wowed the judges with their flashing neon costumes and innovative creations. While the performance received glowing reviews from the judges, it was host Tyra Banks who was so blown away that she had to hit the Golden Buzzer. This success was replicated two seasons later by their junior team Light Balance Kids. The young group were sent straight to the Quarterfinals by guest judge Ellie Kemper.

Before “America’s Got Talent”, V.Unbeatable had already started gaining ground in their home country of India. But their run on Season 14 of “AGT” truly catapulted them to international fame. With members whose ages range from 12-27, the Mumbai-based dance troupe scaled through to the Judge Cuts round to give arguably the defining performance of their career. There was no shortage of things that could’ve motivated guest judge Dwyane Wade to give them the Golden Buzzer. From their crisply choreographed routine to the death-defying stunts and brilliant use of props, everything was tailor-made for the gold confetti. Although they finished in 4th place, V.Unbeatable returned for “The Champions”. Not only did they receive a Golden Buzzer there, but they claimed the top prize (xref).

#3: Freckled Sky

This phenomenal team struck the perfect balance between virtual and real life. Fans have Ukrainian immigrants Val Syganevich and Katia Korobko to thank for founding this group in 2015. After putting in the work, Freckled Sky chose the “America’s Got Talent” stage to make their debut. And what an unforgettable one it was. Syganevich employed the skills of two incredible dancers against a backdrop of video projections and visual effects to tell a striking story. The performance moved all of the judges to give them a standing ovation. However, their work particularly moved Howard Stern, who first invited Syganevich onstage before hitting the Golden Buzzer.

#2: W.A.F.F.L.E. Crew

The “We Are Family For Life Entertainment” or W.A.F.F.L.E. Crew originated from the Bronx in New York, where they typically performed on the subway. In 2020, they took their impressive routine to the “America’s Got Talent” Season 15 stage. Their heartfelt speech about enriching their immediate community came before their spectacular performance. AFter quickly endearing themselves to the judges and audience, the dance crew took over. They chose to showcase a fresh blend of old school and new school hip-hop dance to the tune of Chaka Khan’s “Like Sugar”. In a departure from his usual Golden Buzzer acts, Simon Cowell rained down confetti on the group. This symbolic act propelled them directly to the Quarterfinals.

#1: Zurcaroh

This Austrian-based dance group founded by Brazilian choreographer Peterson da Cruz Hora made a spectacular debut on the AGT stage in 2018. In their audition for Season 13, Zurcaroh pulled out all the tricks. They spun, twirled, flipped and propelled performers across the stage. They even used one of their dancers as a jump rope! The outstanding routine left all four judges at a complete loss for words. Thankfully, host Tyra Banks could still find her voice. Completely enthralled by their performance, Banks handed Zurcaroh a straight ticket to the Quarterfinals in the form of the Golden Buzzer. The group eventually finished in a highly deserving second place.
