Top 10 Funniest Stranger Things Cast Moments
Top 10 Funny Stranger Things Cast Moments
This show may be somber, but it's charming cast is anything but. Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Adorable and Funny “Stranger Things” Cast Moments. For this list, we’re looking at the most endearing moments that the cast of “Stranger Things” have had off-set, from their season 1 debut until now.
#10: MTV Movie Awards & TV Awards Speech
At the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, “Stranger Things” was honored with one of the biggest awards of the night- Show of the Year. Earlier in the evening, Millie Bobby Brown had already taken home the statue for Best Actor in a Show, but this time the whole cast was able to take the stage to receive the accolade together. You can tell the kids have a nervous energy about them when they each take a turn with the mic, making sure to thank The Duffer Brothers, Netflix and of course their parents, who are watching from the crowd. They may be far more used to receiving awards by now, but this clip reminds us of their humble beginnings.
#9: Reacting to VR
Considering the scary nature of “Stranger Things” and the tender age of the primary cast members at the time, it should come as no surprise that people wanted to freak them out. While they’re acting, they don’t get the full experience of seeing the CGI and special effects, so Netflix gave them VR headsets so they could fully immerse themselves in the horrifying world of Hawkins. Even though we can’t see what they’re seeing, it’s hilarious to watch their reactions to whatever it is that’s happening. And this isn’t the only time we’ve gotten a laugh at their expense...
#8: Gaten Matarazzo Takes a Lie Detector Test
If we’re being honest, this entry could have easily just been called “Gaten Matarazzo”, because between his involuntary ability to recite every High School Musical song Xref, his knowledge of mac and cheese’s worth Xref and his unfortunate “Yo dudes!” catch-phrase (xref I don’t say that anymore mom I’m cool now), Gaten has become quite the class clown. If you had to choose just one interview though, his Vanity Fair Lie Detector Test is full of worthy moments, from going into nervous detail about his girlfriend’s love for Noah Centineo, to being honest about his cast mates. It’s no wonder Dustin Henderson is a fan favorite character.
#7: Stranger Strings
Although their more recent appearances on Jimmy Fallon have given us memorable material like the Chicken Noodle Soup dance Xref and an even more hilariously intense dance battle Xref, the cast’s 2016 appearance on Jimmy Fallon simply can’t be beat. Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlinand Finn Wolfhard started off by discussing the kiss between Eleven and Mike, which the two participating actors had quite different experiences with. Then they went on to play a game called “stranger strings” where they were each armed with a can of silly string, and had to reveal embarrassing facts about themselves. Millie Bobby Brown was the star of the show (as always) when she regaled the crowd with her Nicki Minaj impression.
#6: Dancing at the Emmys
“Stranger Things” may not have taken home any actual awards at the 2016 Primetime Emmys, but the cast definitely won for most charming live performance...and best sandwich delivery (xref). Before the broadcast actually began, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin and Gaten Matarazzo performed their own rendition of Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’ hit song, “Uptown Funk”. The song wasn’t initially televised, but luckily several versions hit the web not long afterwards. What do you think our odds are of getting a “Stranger Things” musical episode? These kids clearly have enough talent to carry it!
#5: Answering the Web's Most Searched Questions
Considering this cast has been directly in the public eye over the past 3 years, it’s no surprise that fans have a lot of questions about them and their answers in these WIRED videos do not disappoint. Millie, Finn and Noah kept up an adorable sibling-like banter, while David hardcore fangirled over Winona’s work on The Simpsons and Star Trek and talked about his love for season 3’s “fat Hopper”. Gaten and Joe on the other were just fighting to keep a straight face, with the final question, “Is Joe pregnant?”, literally knocking Gaten off his chair.
#4: Anything with Gaten Matarazzo & Joe Keery Together
Speaking of Gaten and Joe fighting to keep a straight face, it’s become clear that Dustin and Steve’s on-screen chemistry is rooted in reality. Any and every video that features these two is bound to be endlessly entertaining, whether it be giving hilarious advice to strangers about life and love on the internet, or taking a friendship test full of heart-felt compliments and trust-falling. It’s an adorable big brother dynamic we can’t get enough of...or mother, son according to the internet (xref).
#3: Barb’s “Return”
Jimmy Fallon clearly loves “Stranger Things”, because he has taken the opportunity to involve the show in several different skits, like having them pretend to be wax figures at Madame Tussauds (xref). In this one, he puts together a recreation of a scene from “Stranger Things” but adds a hilarious twist. Barb was the unsung hero of the series, a minor character who ended up with a serious following. In this sketch, Tonight Show writer A.D. Miles plays her in a faux deleted scene where she comes back from the Upside Down to give hell to the kids who left her there.
#2: Lip Sync Battle
For any young actor these days, participating in a Lip Sync Battle is practically a rite of passage. While Millie Bobby Brown wasn’t present for this one, all four boys took part in a competition to see who could impress the audience. Each of their performances was distinct and each seemed better than the last. Watching the other cast members look on as one of them performed showed just how tight this crew is. Caleb McLaughlin was declared the winner, but in the end it really felt like they were all in it together. And seeing Chrissy Teigen dressed as Barb was enough to put this episode over the edge. #1: The 74th Annual Golden Globes Opening
When Jimmy Fallon hosted the Golden Globe Awards in early 2017, his opening number was one of the most memorable in recent years. The whole piece was “La La Land” themed, with stars from all of the years biggest TV and movie hits making appearances. The highlight though was definitely when the back of a truck opened up and the “Stranger Things” kids were inside in what looked like the set of the show, and Millie Bobby Brown gave a rap performance about her character. Can someone give this girl a musical career already?
