After the success of “Gravity” and “The Martian,” it seems that space movies are all the rage. Hollywood’s latest voyage into the great unknown stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds as crewmembers on the International Space Station. As one might expect, the mission doesn’t quite go as planned when the crew discovers a life form that poses a major threat to all the workers onboard. The chilling first trailer already has us drawing comparisons to the “Alien” franchise, with the climax of the clip serving as the 21st century’s answer to the iconic Chestburster scene.

#9: “Red Dead Redemption 2” – Trailer

Top 10 Must See Anticipated Releases of October 2016

Whether you’re a huge fan of the first game or you’re hooked on HBO’s “Westworld” and looking for your next fix of cowboy action, Rockstar Games has you covered. While “Red Dead Redemption 2” won’t be out until the second half of 2017, this first trailer will keep you occupied, as long as you’re okay with hitting the Replay button a few times. Clocking in at around a minute long, the preview features vivid Old West landscapes and just enough gunslingers to remind us of the horrible fate that befell John Marston in the original Red Dead Redemption.

#8: “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” – Teaser Trailer

Also in:

Top 10 Famous Pirates in History

Love it or hate it, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise has been an outlet for some of the most entertaining characters to have ever graced the silver screen. This teaser trailer for Disney’s fifth installment of the series hints that “Dead Men Tell No Tales” looks to continue this trend, as it heavily features a nightmare-inducing Javier Bardem as the film’s villain. While the only sign of ol’ Captain Jack is on a wanted poster, the idea of him facing off against a pirate Raoul Silva makes this trailer even more effective.

#7: “A Cure for Wellness” – Official Trailer

Also in:

Top 10 Must See Trailers of October 2017

This film is directed by Gore Verbinski, the man behind both “Rango” and “The Ring,” and frankly it’s hard to think of a more unnerving trailer in recent memory. Set to a slowed down cover of The Ramones’ “I Wanna Be Sedated,” the trailer doesn’t really tell us much except that the film takes place in one hell of an eerie spa. The clip ends on a major reveal, one that we’re sure will lead to some horrifying answers when the film is released on February 17th, 2017.

#6: “Titanfall 2” – Become One Official Launch Trailer

Released just before the launch of the game on October 28th, the Titanfall 2: Become One Trailer tells a beautiful tale of friendship and brotherhood. Of course there’s a whole mess of explosions, but that’s to be expected from a game with badass mechs, right? It’s the type of story that fans of the original “Titanfall” were craving, and boy did it deliver. Featuring stunning animation and a rather serious cover of Cher’s “Bang Bang,” this trailer definitely does its job, getting us excited about the brotherly love between a pilot and his machine.

#5: “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” – Sneak Peek

They say if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, which is a motto Marvel seems to be enforcing with “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” Everyone’s favorite goofy guardians are back for a long awaited round two – as is Blue Swede’s “Hooked on a Feeling.” Mainly revolving around a hilarious conversation between Star-Lord and Drax the Destroyer, this trailer features many memorable visuals and even a glimpse at Baby Groot. Seriously how could you go wrong with Baby Groot?

#4: “John Wick: Chapter 2” – Official Teaser Trailer

Also in:

Top 5 Defining Moments of John F. Kennedy's Presidency

Don’t worry: no dogs were harmed in the making of this trailer. In fact, judging by the furious rage that John Wick possesses in this trailer, it seems he’s not quite over the whole dog thing. Fans of the original film will be happy with this teaser, as it features more of what made the first so great: shooting, driving, shooting, smashing people’s heads into hard objects and more shooting. Oh, AND Morpheus and Neo are back together!!! Basically, we’re very excited for February 2017 and you should be too.

#3: “Planet Earth II” – Official Extended Trailer

Also in:

Top 5 Myths About Planet Earth

While the original “Planet Earth” might be THE nature documentary series to beat, we have little no doubt that this follow-up installment can surpass the original based on this jaw-dropping trailer. A spectacle in its own right, this trailer is taken to a whole other level by its majestic Hans Zimmer score. With Sir David Attenborough returning to work his magic, “Planet Earth II” will surely showcase all the best that the world has to offer. It’s the next best thing to seeing it for ourselves.

#2: “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” – Trailer #2

Come on, it’s “Star Wars.” Only time will tell whether the “Star Wars Anthology” films will live up to the hype, but judging by “Rogue One”’s second official trailer, it’s safe to say they will. It’s at the very least living up to the claim that it’s the “Saving Private Ryan” of the “Star Wars” universe. The action looks great, the cast looks great… this trailer even has Darth Vader! What more could you want? Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. - “Assassin’s Creed” – Trailer #2 - “Into the Inferno” – Official Trailer - “Iron Fist” – Teaser Trailer

#1: “Logan” – Official Trailer

After playing the character since 2000’s inaugural “X-Men” film, Hugh Jackman is finally hanging up the claws. And the trailer for his final installment is filled with Johnny Cash, an aged Logan, and a bond between mutants that will warm your heart. Even non-superhero fans can appreciate the subtlety of this trailer: Wolverine’s superhuman healing ability is weakening, but he’s still got enough fight left in him to protect Laura, a young girl with powers similar to himself. So, whether this is “The Last of Us” movie you’ve always wanted, or the Wolverine movie you’ve always wanted, “Logan” looks like it’ll be the fitting sendoff Jackman deserves.
