Test Drive: 2010 Ford F150 Raptor
Drive
Driving the Ford F-150 Raptor definitely gets some looks. Not only does it look bright, it’s also quite loud. The exhaust note is much deeper and louder than a standard F-150, and that’s probably thanks to the Ford Triton V8 engine that pushes out 320 horsepower and 390 lb-ft. of torque -- and with a truck, the torque is the important part. Because this is an F-150 it’s not meant to tow the most in the Ford truck lineup, but this number can tow up to 6,000 lbs which is significant enough to get most jobs done.
Handling on the F-150 Raptor is great for a pick-up. Normally, trucks feel a bit floaty and as a driver you can feel very removed from the wheels and the steering. However, the F-150 Raptor is precise and really handles well. When you turn the steering wheel the truck responds and it feels tight in the corners and not all long and flimsy. The AWD also means that no matter where you take the Raptor it’s going to be able to handle it. Ideal for camping and off-roading, the Raptor is made for a young, adventurous workman who’s not only interested in a truck that can get the job done, but one that looks damn good doing it too.
