We all want those plat trophies, but these achievements were a nightmare for trophy hunters. Welcome to MojoPlays and here are our picks for the most difficult, even impossible, video game achievements.
Welcome to MojoPlays! Today we’ll be looking at some impossible achievements in video games. Just to be clear, these achievements aren’t just difficult, but pretty much impossible without cheating. Unachievable “The Stanley Parable” (2013) The impossibility of this achievement is right in the name. “The Stanley Parable” is a bizarre, looping, choice-based game and it has a plethora of achievements. Its most obtuse is one named “Unachievable.” Some gamers were puzzled upon finding out they’d gotten the achievement, as they were unsure as to why exactly they had. Reverse engineering the game provided a command prompt, and even then with a 1 in 15 chance, but developers soon patched that out and have done so again with every new patch, meaning that the method for getting “Unachievable” is an ever-changing one. Yes, I am the real garry! “Garry’s Mod” (2004) A famed sandbox game originally derived from “Half-Life 2,” “Garry’s Mod” is a mod game created by the titular Garry Newman. This particular achievement actually requires the player to be playing on the same server as Newman himself, making it extremely difficult to get; since the man himself rarely plays his creation anymore. Although hacking can allow players to get “Yes, I Am the Real Garry,” the fact that getting it the real way depends entirely on one man who isn’t the player themselves makes it worthy of our list. Emperor! “The Elder Scrolls Online” (2014) Becoming an Emperor in real life is obviously an impossible task so it’s no surprise that achieving this feat is no laughing matter. “The Elder Scrolls Online” features an achievement called “Emperor!” which is awarded to the player with the highest rank in an alliance of players that manages to control all six keeps around the imperial city. This is one of the more doable entries on our list, but even so, the amount of time and effort it takes, given the number of players out there and the amount of help you need from others, and the need to be better than your teammates still makes it a daunting proposition. World Champion “Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter” (2006) To attain this achievement, the player must become the highest ranked player in the world at “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.” Becoming the greatest in the world at anything is an astronomically tough task, no matter what discipline you have. At the height of the game’s popularity, players used multiple accounts and consoles to cheat the system. While the game is over a decade old by now, this is still an incredibly tough achievement to get, since it necessitates besting increasingly stronger players to stand at the top of the world leaderboard. GREATEST RAYMAN EVER “Rayman Raving Rabbids” (2006) Sorry folks, if your strange life goal is to become the “Greatest Rayman Ever” then you’re out of luck. The achievement “GREATEST RAYMAN EVER” is allegedly unlocked when a player accumulates 174,000 points in score mode by completing a series of minigames. However, the total score only goes up to 173,000; leaving any player who attempts to get the achievement doomed to be just shy of their goal. There are actually several other impossible achievements within the game that are locked behind this requirement, but we went with this one, since it’s the “greatest.” Four Secret DLC Achievements “Hellboy: The Science of Evil” (2008) Movie tie-in games are not usually known for being anything notable. Although this one boasted some of the actual actors’ voices and input from the director, “Hellboy: The Science of Evil” is on our list for having four utterly impossible achievements. When the game was first released, it included four achievements that were tied to planned DLC. However, the game’s less than stellar reception gave the developers no incentive to release the downloadable content; therefore leaving these four achievements forever unachievable.
