7 Things You Should Know About God Of War 3

He is fueled by a quest for vengeance and the goal of overthrowing the gods themselves. Welcome to Watchmojo.com and today we’ll be taking a look at the 7 things you should know about God of War 3.

Number 1: The Backstory
In the previous installments of the series we learned that Kratos was once a Spartan Captain, before becoming a servant of Ares, the god of war. However, Ares tricked the warrior into murdering his own family. This prompted him to agree to assassinate his master in exchange for having his tortured memory erased. However, he was betrayed and mortally wounded by Zeus, who turned out to have been his real father.

Number 2: The Plot
God of War 3 is the final chapter in the current storyline. It picks up after the earth goddess Gaia had intervened to save Kratos from certain death, in order to make him a deal that would reunite him with his family. Now, Kratos alongside Gaia’s titans, must journey to Mount Olympus to kill all of the gods.

Number 3: Gameplay
The game features a similar play mechanic to the previous installments. However, new fighting combos will take advantage of the dramatic increase of on-screen enemies. In fact, players will now be able to take on 50 enemies at once, rather then the previous limit of 15, for an even more intense and epic combat experience.

Number 4: The Weapons
Fans of the series will be happy to learn that there will be more weapons then ever before. In addition, they will be easier to wield then those found in the previous titles. Among the long list of returning weapons, players will be picking up the Zipper fire bow and the Cestus, a pair of lion-shaped gauntlets that allow players to smash through solid objects.

Number 5: The Cinematics
In a first for the franchise, God of War’s epic cinematics will no longer be pre-rendered. Due to the PS3’s power, the in-game engine will finally blend interactive and non-interactive sequences together for a seamless visual experience. This means that all of the camera features, such as motion blur, will also run in real time as not to disrupt the flow of the narrative.

Number 6: Graphics
Gamers can expect a lot of game when they unwrap their copy of God of War 3. The title not only quadruples the texture resolutions of its predecessor, but makes use of dynamic lighting, outputs at true 1080p and requires an incredible 35 GB of disk space. Fortunately for gamers with small hard drives, God of War 3 will not require a mandatory install as it can be played directly off of the Blu Ray disk.

Number 7: Killer Ap
Not only does the game deliver a spectacular finale as the final chapter in the saga, but has unanimously scored near-perfect review scores. As a result, God of War 3 has already been hailed as the must-have title of 2010, and the defining Playstation exclusive of this generation.
