10 Worst Things Doom Has Ever Done
10 Worst Things Doom Has Ever Done
Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re exploring the most despicable, terrible, and doomiest things Victor von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom, has done throughout Marvel Comics' history.
Enslaving Monks Who Saved Him
After the accident that left him with a scarred face, Doom heard about an order of Tibetan monks who lived in the Himalayan mountains and possessed secret magic techniques. So, he set off, only to get injured in the tundra. Yet the monks found Doom and took him back to their temple to nurse him back to health. Most people would’ve been grateful, but not Doom. He had other plans. After mastering the monks’ techniques in magic and technology, Doom became their leader. Immediately, he used the monks in his quest for power and revenge against Reed Richards by getting them to create his iconic armor and mask. Yet rather than thank them, Doom later killed all of them except one.
Wiping Out the Heroes on Battleworld
If there’s even a tiny chance of Doom gaining more power, he’ll take it, no matter the cost. In 1984, the bombastic “Secret Wars” event took place, which featured heroes and villains battling it out on Battleworld because of the Beyonder. Well, Doom wanted that. After taking Galactus’s power, Doom used it to steal the Beyonder’s vast abilities. So, of course, he immediately fixed his face. But he wasn’t done. As the heroes were planning what to do with Doom and voted to face him, he blasted their base with a single bolt of energy. In a flash, 21 heroes, including big-hitters like She-Hulk, Thor, and Hulk, were killed.
Waged War on Wakanda
Given his metal armor and strong passion for magic, Doom would always want vibranium. After all, the strong substance can amplify magic. As such, in 2010, the Latveria ruler launched the “Doomwar” storyline, invading Wakanda with the aid of the Desturi. After breaking into the vibranium vault, Doom built factories all over the world, which made stronger Doombots. Despite help from the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, T’Challa had to take serious action to defeat Doom. The Black Panther used a device that turned the world’s vibranium inert, leading to Doom’s downfall and potentially destroying Wakanda in the process, which thankfully wasn’t the case.

Obliterating a Universe Over Insults
Doom has a very fragile ego. With a slight blow to it, he can snap. In his 2019 and 2020 solo book, Doom met with his Earth-44131 counterpart. However, rather than being a terror, this Victor had turned over a new leaf. He used his knowledge and resources for good, making Earth into a utopia. Well, Doom didn’t like that and tried to get Victor to see the errors of his ways. Instead, while attempting to change Doom's views, Victor took shots at his visage, pointing out his “ridiculous” armor and calling his behavior ludicrous. Well, that didn’t go well. Doom responded by fatally blasting Victor with energy. He then grabbed the Ultimate Nullifier on the wall and wiped the universe from existence.
Tormenting the Fantastic Four
With his long hatred of the Fantastic Four, there have been times when Doom has gotten the better of them, albeit temporarily. Yet during those brief windows, he’s put the family in lots of pain. In “Fantastic Four #70,” while hyped up on magic – more on that later – Doom gave Johnny Reed’s powers and stretched him weirdly, gave Sue Johnny’s powers, and had the Thing repeatedly beaten up by the Mindless Ones. During the 2019 “Herald of Doom” story arc, Victor channeled his inner Jigsaw from “Saw” and made a load of contraptions to cause as much pain as possible before attempting to execute them. Of course, they got free and got revenge by stripping Doom of everything publicly.
Sending Franklin to Hell
While he’s usually one of the most powerful Marvel characters in existence, in 2003's “Unthinkable” story arc, Franklin Richards was a normal human after losing his abilities. With that in mind, it makes what Doom did even worse. After teaming up with the Haazareth Three, a group of demons, Doom attacked the FF. During it, he helped send Franklin, who was a child at this point, to hell. In Marvel, time works differently there. Years in hell can only last minutes on Earth. During that time, demons and beasts tormented Franklin. While he was saved from hell, he had PTSD from the experience. Franklin believed he was still trapped there and needed Sue and Ben to help him recover.
One World Under Doom
Doctor Doom as Sorcerer Supreme? What could go wrong(!) During the “Blood Hunt” event, Doctor Strange gave Doom the magical title, stating he’d save the world. However, after the event, he tricked Strange, declaring it wasn’t safe yet. During the “One World Under Doom” event, Victor placid the entire world under one country, the United Latveria. Immediately, the heroes were suspicious and believed Doom was up to something nefarious. Well, they were right; they just didn’t realize it’d go this far. Sue, Wanda, and Natasha found that Doom had locked away one million Latverians and was using them as batteries to increase his power. While Doom gave his life to resurrect his goddaughter Valeria, it still doesn’t make up for what he did.
Experimenting on Asgardians
It’s easy to forget that behind all the sorcery, there’s a scientist under Doom’s iron mask. Yet, rather than a helpful, nice one, it’s an evil, mad scientist who doesn’t believe in ethics. In 2009, Asgard was moved from Broxton, Oklahoma, to Latveria due to Loki’s suggestion. However, rather than looking out for his people, the god of lies was working with Doom to commit horrific crimes. He was abducting Asgardians and experimenting on them to find the source of the gods’ powers and immortality. If that wasn’t terrible enough, Doom also forcefully converted his Asgardian victims into obedient and monstrous cyborgs. Several gods were either killed or turned into abominations by Doom, including Kelda and Endrik.
The Tale of the Original Valeria
For many Marvel fans, there’s only one Valeria, the daughter of Reed and Sue and the goddaughter of Doom, who helped bring her into the world. However, long ago, there was another. Before he became Doom, the teenage Victor was in a relationship with Valeria von Frazen. Yet when he went to the US, their relationship fizzled out. Well, in the 2003 story arc “Unthinkable,” Doom reunited with her. Only it was a trick. He’d made a deal with demons to sacrifice something irreplaceable, say, the only woman who loved him, for incredible power. To make it worse, Valeria’s skin was also turned into Doom’s powered-up armor. Gross. Valeria’s torment wasn’t over, as her soul went to hell and she later teamed up with Mephisto.
God Emperor Doom
You don’t get much more evil than remaking the world, rewriting your enemy’s family to be yours, and ruling over the world with a godly iron fist. Yet that’s where Doom put himself in the 2015 event “Secret Wars.” Armed with the Beyonders' powers, which were being channeled by the Molecule Man, God Emperor Doom formed Battleworld from a patchwork of realities and made himself a deity, warping the residents’ memories. Alongside enslaving the Thor Corps, Doom made Doctor Strange his minion and turned the Thing into a wall. He also showed no restraint when it came to offing others. Strange, Thanos, and a Phoenix-powered Cyclops were all killed by Doom with little effort during his tyrannical rule.
