Disturbing Interviews with Cult Leaders

The gruesome murders of young people that took place in the Altamira region of Brazil possess a number of talking points. One is the rampant inconsistencies and alleged improprieties that have to do with both the police investigations and legal handlings of the case. The other is a cult organization alleged to have some involvement with the murders. Valentina de Andrade’s Superior Universal Lineage Sect is said to espouse edicts that actively promote the destruction of children born after 1981. As a result, de Andrade was one of those indicted in the Altamira Emasculations, a case that earned international attention. De Andrade would eventually be acquitted, although there’s much speculation and pushback as to exactly how close she and her cult were to the crimes.

The man born Daniel Perez went under multiple names during his operation of the Angel’s Landing Commune in Wichita, Kansas. Behind all of them, however, lurked the mind of a monster. This was because Perez, a.k.a. Lou Castro, routinely abused children who lived on the compound for years. Additionally, Perez was committing life insurance fraud on members of Angel’s Landing, including one Patricia Hughes. The cult leader was charged with Hughes’ murder, and would also be connected with six additional murders, all of which occurred under mysterious circumstances. He would be convicted of first-degree murder (among other crimes), and is currently serving a life sentence in Kansas’ Lansing County Correctional Facility.

Los Narcosatánicos were a cult and gang headed by Cuban-American Adolfo Constanzo and his girlfriend Sara Aldrete. Constanzo’s cult participated in black magic rituals and animal sacrifice, before eventually aligning themselves with both Mexico’s corrupt police force, as well as its drug cartels. Los Narcosatánicos didn’t stop at killing animals, either, and it wouldn’t be long before this Matamoros cult began killing human beings and harvesting their organs for use in spellcraft. One of their victims was American tourist Mark Kilroy, who was abducted by the cult while he was on spring break. Constanzo had himself shot by his associates during a standoff with police, while Aldrete and other cult members were caught, arrested, and jailed for their involvement with the crimes.

The most recent example of a cult killing on our list has to do with The Good News International Church, operating out of the Shakahola region of Kenya. The GNIM, or Shakahola Cult, is a doomsday organization with an end-time belief in a forthcoming apocalypse. The radicalization of their doctrine has proved controversial, however, such as their anti-medicinal beliefs that led to a 2017 investigation involving the deaths of many children cult members. Additionally, police discovered mass graves in April of 2023, graves containing cult members who were ordered by GNIM leader Paul Nthenge Mackenzie to starve themselves, as part of a religious ritual. Additionally, it’s alleged that Mackenzie utilized deadly force to kill those who did not comply with the forced fast.

The Movement For the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God

What happens, when the apocalypse that a cult has predicted… doesn’t happen? The Movement For the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God predicted that the end of the world would occur on December 31st, 1999. This Ugandan cult took this date seriously and prepared for the end by gathering together and building houses for school, worship, and cult indoctrination. However, when the first of January came and went, life under The Movement For the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God took a deadly turn. Bodies would be found at cult sites all across Uganda, with members dying from being poisoned and stabbed, while still others died in a giant explosion in Uganda’s Kanungu district.

The Knights Templar may no longer exist, but their ideals live on within the doctrines of the cult known as the Order of the Solar Temple. The group possesses occult beliefs tied to such infamous figures as Aleister Crowley, while the Solar Temple was involved with a number of gruesome scenes. One was the ritualistic murder of an infant, the son of a Temple associate named Tony Dutoit. Finally, two of the group’s founders, Joseph di Mambro and Luc Jouret died in a series of deadly events taking place in Quebec and Switzerland. Members were murdered, poisoned, or forced to commit self-destruction, at multiple Temple headquarters, all to coincide with various seasonal solstices and equinoxes.

The Aum Shinrikyo doomsday cult is one of the most dangerous in the world and has been responsible for a number of deadly attacks over the years. One was the Matsumoto sarin attack in 1994, which cost the lives of eight people, while another took place only a year later, in Tokyo. Aum Shinrikyo, under the orders of its leader Shoko Asahara assaulted the very busy Tokyo subway system with sarin gas, killing at least thirteen and sickening hundreds. Police would raid Aum Shinrikyo, and arrest many cult members, including Asahara. The latter would sit in prison for years, despite being handed down a sentence of death. This sentence would finally be carried out on July sixth, 2018.

There have been multiple documentaries over the years that have described the domino effect of events that led to the tragedy at Waco. When all was said and done, however, the one-time headquarters of David Koresh’s Branch Davidians cult went up in flames and cost dozens of people their lives. There were casualties on both sides, as armed cult members faced off against both federal officials and local Texas law enforcement. It isn’t clear whether Koresh himself died from gunshot wounds, or as a result of the blaze that engulfed the Mount Carmel Center in McLennan County. What IS certain, is that nearly ninety people died, including four federal agents.

The Manson Murders

The Shocking Story of Ervil LeBaron aka Mormon Manson

Charles Manson may not have directly killed anyone back in the Summer of ’69, but it’s largely accepted today that it was Manson’s influence that led to a true Hollywood tragedy. The Tate-LaBianca Murders refer to two separate killings that were committed by members of The Manson Family. Specifically, actress Sharon Tate, coffee heiress Abigail Folger, Hollywood hair stylist Jay Sebring, and friend Wojciech Frykowski were brutally slain by four Manson associates. A separate assault was perpetrated a day later, when Leno and Rosemary LaBianca were also killed by members of Manson’s clan. Charles himself would spend the rest of his natural life in prison, as a result of his role in the murders, dying from cardiac arrest and colon cancer on November 19th, 2017.

Jonestown

It was an American tragedy. A massive loss of life that turned the word “Jonestown” into something that immediately conjures up images of impossible horror. Jim Jones was a religious leader who moved members of his cult from the United States to a settlement in Guyana, christening it The People’s Temple Agricultural Project. It was here where Congressman Leo Ryan, NBC cameraman Bob Brown, and more members of the press were ambushed and killed by Temple members. Additionally, over nine hundred Jonestown cult members destroyed themselves by drinking poisoned Flavor-Aid, either of their own volition or under threat by Jim Jones and his loyalists. Jones himself died on site from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
