Whelp – it turns out Sir Patrick Stewart was not impressed. You see, at the 2010 Glamour Women of the Year Awards, comedian James Corden was hosting, while Stewart was among the presenters. During one of the evening’s segments, Stewart publicly criticized Corden for standing at the back of the stage appearing as though he would rather be somewhere else. Corden tried to brush it off and keep the show moving, but Stewart continued with further jabs. The exchange was uncomfortable enough to become a viral clip years later. For Corden, being publicly dressed down by the “Star Trek” legend in front of an awards-show audience was quite the unexpected reality check.
John Cena Humiliates Roman Reigns
This was less a promo and more a verbal demolition. On “WWE Raw” in 2017, John Cena went straight after Roman Reigns’ biggest perceived weakness: his ability to connect with the audience. After Reigns briefly lost his place during the exchange, Cena pounced, telling him, “It’s called a promo, kid,” and that if he wanted to be the “Big Dog,” he needed to learn how to do it. He then told Reigns he should be ashamed that a part-timer could do the job better than him full-time. Yeesh. Obviously, the promo was part storyline, but it was also part real-world criticism - and watching WWE’s knighted next big star get schooled on the microphone during this time period was undeniably humbling.
Jerry Seinfeld Refuses Kesha’s Hug Request
In June of 2017, Kesha approached comedy icon Jerry Seinfeld while he was being interviewed on the red carpet. But, when the singer enthusiastically told Seinfeld she loved him and asked for a hug, Seinfeld declined. However, she unsuccessfully tried again…and again. After Kesha walked off, Seinfeld told the interviewer that he simply didn’t know who she was. And that was the real gut punch: Kesha was a major pop star, but in that moment, one of comedy’s biggest names genuinely had no idea who she was. It wasn’t an intentional takedown of course, but being firmly turned down three times has to be a seriously humbling celebrity encounter.

Henry Winkler Humbles a “Happy Days” Guest Star
It’s said that the golden rule on the set of “Happy Days” was that nobody was to act like they were bigger than the show. Well, speaking at Fanboy Expo Knoxville in 2026, Winkler recalled a recurring guest actor who played Eugene and repeatedly bragged about the amount of fan mail he received. Winkler eventually had enough, telling the actor, “You don’t want to talk to me about fan mail. I got 50,000 letters a week.” He then reminded him, “We don’t talk about that on the set. We are all here as one.” The Fonz actor never named him, although the media notes that actor Denis Mandel played Eugene Belvin in ten episodes during Seasons 8 and 9.
Mariah Carey “Doesn’t Know” Jennifer Lopez
Oh boy! During a European television interview in the early 2000s, pop superstar Mariah Carey was asked about fellow performer Jennifer Lopez. Rather than engage in a lengthy discussion, Carey simply said, “I don’t know her.” Four words, and an instant pop-culture classic was born. The remark was widely interpreted as Carey dismissing Lopez’s status as a fellow superstar, and it quickly took on a life of its own. The remark was savage - Lopez was already one of the biggest names in entertainment, yet Carey’s icy response made it sound like she didn’t even register on her radar. That’s one way to humble a fellow celebrity competitor!
David Beckham Gives Victoria a Reality Check
It turns out even Posh Spice isn’t immune to a little domestic fact-checking. While discussing her upbringing in the Netflix docuseries “Beckham,” Victoria Beckham described her family as “very working class.” That is, until husband and soccer legend David Beckham popped in from off-screen to challenge her. After some playful back-and-forth, David asked what kind of car her father drove her to school in. Victoria eventually admitted it was a Rolls-Royce. The exchange was all in good fun, but watching Posh Spice get caught and called out by her own husband was a wonderfully relatable reminder that, sometimes, the people closest to you are the ones who can humble you fastest.
“The Rock” Knocks Vin Diesel’s Professionalism
This one went beyond trash talk. While filming “The Fate of the Furious” in 2016, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson posted a now-famous Instagram message criticizing some of his unnamed male co-stars for what he described as unprofessional behavior – all with some colorful language. It didn’t take long for reports to identify Vin Diesel as the intended target. What made the moment so humbling was the sheer size of the platform Johnson used to make his point. This wasn’t a private disagreement between two actors; one of Hollywood’s biggest stars was publicly calling out another franchise heavyweight while their movie was still in production. Ouch!
Dakota Johnson Turns the Tables on Ellen’s Birthday Claim
So, celebrity talk shows are usually light, playful, and carefully controlled. But, when Dakota Johnson appeared on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2019, things got awkward… fast. During a 1988 appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” Carson asked the legendary actress who the worst person she had ever worked with was. Davis didn’t hesitate and fired back with a brutal: “One million dollars, Faye Dunaway.” The audience laughed nervously, but Davis doubled down, describing Dunaway as “totally impossible,” “uncooperative,” and “very unprofessional.” Yeesh. What made the exchange sting the hardest was the fact that Davis wasn’t some anonymous critic taking a shot. She was an undisputed Hollywood legend who essentially declared an Oscar-winning younger star was the worst of the bunch. Talk about getting put in your place!
Oprah Shuts Down Lindsay Lohan’s Excuses
Oprah Winfrey wasn’t interested in hearing another excuse. While filming OWN’s 2014 docuseries “Lindsay,” Winfrey confronted the actress over her struggles to stick to schedules, commitments, and the rules they had agreed upon. When Oprah was told that Lohan was already changing plans and not following through, her response was blunt as she told Linds to cut the BS. She challenged Lohan to stop making excuses and take responsibility for her own choices. That’s what made the moment so humbling: Oprah wasn’t treating Lohan like a Hollywood starlet who needed to be handled delicately. She was treating her like someone who had to answer for her actions!
