10 Brands That Look Nothing Like They Did a Decade Ago

Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’re looking at brands in various industries with logos that look noticeably different than they did a decade ago.

Burger King

Those who grew up during the 2000s and 2010s were so used to the Burger King logo with the blue crescent. After all, it had been around since 1999. However, before those days, there was a more minimalist logo—no color blue, straight lettering instead of slightly slanted lettering, and a bigger, solid-color bun. That was BK’s classic, retro logo. And that is what the 2021 redesign was meant to reflect. The throwback, yet new logo was meant to pay tribute to the fast food chain’s history, while also symbolizing the removal of artificial colors and preservatives from its food. Whether you prefer this simpler logo or the one with the blue, we can’t fault BK for going back to their roots.

Jaguar

This British luxury automobile company has been around since the 1930s. Obviously it carved out a place in the market to a point where its logo became instantly recognizable. All that history made the brand redesign in 2024 seem quite bold. With its shift to electric cars only, Jaguar called its brand redesign a “complete reset” and “a powerful celebration of modernism.” In a new logo, the gold Jaguar letters are spaced out, with three uppercase letters and three lowercase. The company also introduced a new monogram with the letters ‘J’ and ‘R.’ As for that iconic leaping Jaguar that many have long associated with the brand? It does not look like it used to.

Animal Planet

This Discovery-owned TV channel has been the place to go for animal documentaries for some time now, with excellent narrations, footage, and teachings about countless species. Animal Planet launched in 1996. Its original logo was mainly green and featured an elephant. The elephant was dropped in 2008. Fast forward to 2018, and a new logo was born. The elephant was back, although in a different shape, color, and direction. Oh yeah, and it’s leaping! Along with the introduction of the new look, Animal Planet said its new mission “is squarely centered around keeping the childhood joy and wonder of animals alive by bringing people up close in every way.” So, yeah, the logo may have changed, but it still represents what it always has.

Baskin-Robbins

The pink and blue color scheme of Baskin-Robbins in a playful font was so familiar for years. But in 2022, Baskin-Robbins got rid of both of those features of their logo. The new logo features a more simplistic font and a pink and brown color scheme. The VP of marketing and culinary at Baskin-Robbins pointed to the original advertising campaign in the 1950s, which used that same color scheme. Like every Baskin-Robbins logo over the years, the new one still features the number 31, representing the number of flavors offered at the shop since its creation in 1953. But yeah, even so, it definitely looks different. So do the packaging and the employee uniforms.

Eurostar

This well-known international high-speed train service connects Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK through the Chunnel. The original Eurostar logo featured a star and a color scheme of dark blue, yellow, and white. It remained that way from 1994 to 2011. The next logo, which stuck around for more than a decade, dropped the star and featured an elongated letter ‘e.’ A significant rebranding came in 2023. A star was reborn—although a different kind of star with a compass vibe. The new logo also features a different font and a lighter blue and white color scheme. So in one sense, the new logo draws back to Eurostar’s origins; but in another, it’s the start of a new track.

X (Formerly Twitter)

This one is kind of obvious… is it not? After Elon Musk acquired Twitter, it became known as X in 2023. Although, let’s be real. Many people still call it Twitter and say “tweet.” Before the change, the word “tweet” had become a part of everyday language. The rebranding totally went against that. Gone was the classic light blue with the bird, and in came a black and white X. In the process, the branding identity of one of the most successful social media apps ever changed drastically, becoming much more basic, uninspiring, and less representative of what the app had always meant. It may be X now, but you can’t cross out that light blue birdie or the word “Twitter” from our minds.

PepsiCo & Pepsi

You’re probably more familiar with the Pepsi logo than the logo of the soft drink’s parent company, PepsiCo. The red, white, and blue Pepsi logo has a firm place in countless minds. That color scheme did not change with the 2023 rebranding. Although, that doesn’t take away from the fact that the new logo is very different from the previous one. The red and blue waves and the white stripe have different shapes and placements, and Pepsi is fully capitalized to make it appear bolder and more confident. But perhaps the even bigger branding change has been for parent company PepsiCo. Its 2025 refresh features a totally different design, color scheme, font, and even a new tagline: “Food. Drinks. Smiles.”

Uber

The company that changed the game of ridesharing once featured a recognizable ‘U’ symbol. But in 2016, that symbol changed quite a bit, sort of resembling a backwards ‘C.’ And in 2018, another change came; there really was no symbol anymore. Rather, the Uber logo simply became the word ‘Uber’ in a black font. While there’s nothing flashy or creative about it, the simplicity, combined with the company’s success and unparalleled presence in the ridesharing industry, definitely make this logo memorable. There is something to be said for being easily recognizable. That’s exactly what this logo change accomplished.

Mastercard

After the company conducted research to see if people would recognize the brand based on two interlocking circles, the proof was in the pudding. Yes, most people did recognize it. In 2019, the name of the brand was dropped from the logo. Obviously, this showed how far Mastercard had come—being that the interlocking red and yellow circles could now stand alone, and people would still recognize the logo. For most, they probably had seen it so many times! Oh yeah, and remember the days when the word “Mastercard” was located inside the circles, which had interlocking lines at their intersection point? Throwback vibes for sure.

Instagram

The old Instagram logo that many have known from the first day they joined the app was a brown and beige camera, with a strip of yellow, red, blue, and green in the top left corner, and the letters I-N-S-T. In 2016, it was completely redesigned. The only aspect that remained was the camera. Even that looked way different, though. The new logo has a vibrant burst of gradient colors: purple, pink, red, orange; and the camera is white. Facebook, which used to own IG, experienced a major branding change of its own in 2021, merging with Meta, whose logo became an infinity loop resembling the letter ‘M.’ But Facebook’s app logo didn’t change like Instagram’s did. So IG gets the spot on our list.
