Born on August 30, 1797 in London, England, Mary Shelley was a writer who became famous for her gothic novel, "Frankenstein." She was married to fellow writer Percy Bysshe Shelley, who died in 1822. Despite financial and personal problems, she continued to write novels and be involved in politics.
