New Orleans is a cultural center, and as such is populated with a number of small galleries as well as large museums. From southern art, to landscaped gardens, to World War II history, the museums in the city are diverse and distinct. The Ogden Museum of Southern Art gives context to the art of the American south. The New Orleans Museum of Art is one of the city's most important cultural institutions, and is also home to the beautiful Besthoff Gardens. Meanwhile, the United States' National World War II Museum is found in New Orleans, and educates visitors about the country's role in the war.
