Learn About Ramadan: Islam's Holy Month

VOICE OVER: Rebecca Brayton

Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic lunar calendar. Historically, it is said that this month is the time when Allah disclosed the first verses of the Quran to the prophet Muhammad. In modern times, the month is marked by fasting and self-sacrifice, charity and prayer. While prayer is an important part of the Muslim faith throughout the whole year, it is even more so during Ramadan. The same goes for fasting, which is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. In this video, http://www.WatchMojo.com takes a look at the cultural and historical significance of Islam's holy month, Ramadan.
