7 Things You Should Know About Crysis 2

You are the last hope for humanity! Welcome to WatchMojo.com, and today we’ll be filling you in on everything you should know about Crysis 2 by Developer Crytek and Electronic Arts.

Number 1: The Plot and Setting

Taking place three years after the events of the first game, Crysis 2 picks up in the year 2023. Set in an evacuated New York City, it is one of many large cities around the world that has become ground zero to a massive an alien invasion.

There, the quarantined urban landscape offers countless options on how to progress and plan attacks. Navigating this urban sandbox, you can scale buildings and destroyed cityscapes, with an emphasis on vertical gameplay. As you progress you will learn more about the plot through recovering tape recordings and overhearing enemies talk with each other.

Number 2: The Protagonist

In the sequel, players take on the role of “Alcatraz”, a Force Recon Marine. Encountering a man named Prophet, he has given you his advanced Nanosuit. Wearing the amour, you are pursued its maker, a hostile government faction known as Crynet Systems, while taking on the alien invasion force.

Number 3: The New Nanosuit and Modules

Wearing the second version of the Nanosuit, you will have access to new and upgraded superpowers, complete with streamlined functionality.

Sporting three main modes, these include the standard “Weapon Mode”, “Armor Mode” which increases your protection and gives you greater body strength, and “Cloak Mode”, which generates an active camouflage and suppresses any sounds made by the wearer.

Best of all, these modes can be upgraded throughout the course of the campaign through the use of various modules. These enable extra abilities, such as aerial stomps.

Number 4: Weapons and Attachments

Complimenting the power given to you by the Nanosuit are a variety of assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns, sniper rifles, sidearms, heavy weapons and explosives. These include such notable weapons as the X-43 Microwave Induced Kylstron Emitter and the K-Volt electric pellet submachine gun.

The most exciting thing about the arsenal of Crysis 2 are the attachments. These include everything from a laser sight, to a sniper scope, silencer and even a holographic decoy.

Number 5: Enemies

Making a return, the aliens are back with a major redesign. Now, instead of donning tentacled exosuits, they appear as high-tech armored cyborg war machines, complete with legs. Sporting powerful weapons, they also come with startling superhuman strength and agility.

In addition to the alien forces, you will have to take on human soldiers working for Crynet Systems, who are after your suit and will engage you with extreme prejudice.

Number 6: Multiplayer Modes and Kits

Crysis 2 features six online multiplayer modes. These include “Instant Action, Team Instant Action, Crash Site, Capture The Relay”, “Extraction” and “Assault.”

The many maps include an abandoned Church called “Sanctuary”, and “Pier 17”, a ruined dock area that is halfway underwater.

Before entering a game map, you will be given the choice of five different character kits. These include “Assault”, which is given an assault riffle, carrying a combat shotgun as a “Scout”, becoming a “Sniper”, A “Gunner” with a heavy machine gun, and “Custom.” This allows you to enter a match with a personal weapon selection.

Not just weapon selections, each kit comes with its own tweaks to the general gameplay and nanosuit powers that you will be granted. Of course, there will be various add-on modules to pick up scattered across the map that will serve to enhance your existing abilities.

Number 7: Enemy AI and Graphics

Fans of a good challenge will appreciate the fact that Crysis 2 features extremely intelligent foes that can think and tactically co-ordinate strategies against you. As daunting as this may sound for some, the gameplay will remain fair through a series of internal checks and balances.

And while its predecessor set the benchmark in computer graphics, its developer has crafted a follow-up with the best graphics currently available for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This is due to using the all-new, custom-built CryEngine 3, which makes use of DirectX 11 and full stereoscopic 3D support.

Conclusion:

Available for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, Cryis 2 tells a cinematic story, while delivering a cutting-edge first person shooter experience that should not be missed.
