Top 10 Celeb Moments That Broke The Internet

This is the game of he said-she said that was making headlines for over a decade. Ye was objectively wrong when he started the feud by interrupting T-Swift's VMA acceptance speech, but things got foggy from there. After a lot of back and forth and an infamous song called “Famous,” the battle got explosive when Kim released an edited recorded phone call between the Wests and Taylor in the mid-2010s. Which many fans think prompted the “Reputation” era for the pop artist. The ordeal came to an end in early 2020 when the full phone call was released, proving Taylor had been telling the truth about her involvement in Kanye’s song all along. But we wouldn’t be surprised to see the trio making headlines again one day.

When your life is documented as much as the Kar-Jenners is, there is bound to be a meme or two created about you. The famous family has had countless moments go viral, but one of the most viral, meme-able moments was when Kris Jenner gifts Kylie a pig and the youngest Jenner mistakes it for a chicken. In her defense, she had apparently previously asked her mom for chickens as a housewarming gift. Plus they live in mansions and were on separate levels of the house when she first saw the pet. But still, the moment made it to every social media platform.

#8: Kim vs. Prison Reform

We’re not sure anyone is asked why they are famous more often than Kim Kardashian. But in 2018, she gave her haters something to talk about when her efforts aided the release of Alice Marie Johnson from prison. She kept them talking when she announced prison reform was a problem she wanted to do something about and she was going to get a law degree to help. Though a lot of people were doubtful of the star's intentions when she started being seen with the former president, she has stayed steadfast in her goals - proving she doesn’t need her looks to break the internet.

#7: 72-Day Marriage

Top 10 Celebrity News Stories That Broke The Internet

Up until 2021, it was hard to picture Kim married to anyone but Kanye. But back in 2011, Kim was widely publicizing a very different relationship. The infamously short-lived marriage to NBA player Kris Humphries has such a grip on the internet that if you google 72 day marriage, the couple is the only results that come up. Kim’s gown was on the cover of People magazine and the wedding was a special televised event. The marriage was no secret, so the speed that they got a divorce was shocking for fans. The couple started dating and were married within less than a year, so looking back now,we are not so surprised.

#6: Kylie Becomes a Billionaire (but Not Really)

In 2018, Kylie landed on the cover of Forbes magazine, which stated that at 21 she was on her way to becoming the youngest self-made billionaire ever. And that made a lot of people on the internet mad. The youngest Jenner was born into a rich family, has been on TV since adolescence, and has a network that most average people could never dream of. So the self-made title was widely debated. All the debate came to a head when Forbes announced that Kylie’s earnings had been inflated and she was only worth about $900 million, as if that was the problem people had with the cover. Considering her family wealth, we don’t think she is too bothered to be knocked from the list.

#5: Kendall Jenner’s Pepsi Ad

Pepsi has always been known for their ads, but usually for their endearing quality. That all changed when they released their “Live for Now” campaign, which starred Kendall. The huge company has massive advertising power, so the ad was spread far and wide online. And almost immediately they started receiving backlash for co-opting a very serious movement in the name of selling a drink. Since this was a job Kendall chose to do, she was not immune from the backlash. The model discussed her regret with Kim, but the damage to her reputation had been done. We know now that the star faced no long term damage and was able to bounce back to the top of her career.

#4: Tristan Thompson & Jordyn Woods Party Together

When you are associated with the Kar-Jenner family, especially if you are a romantic partner or a friend, you have to expect that your every move will be documented or publicized. Tristan and Jordyn must not have gotten the memo because they were out partying together like no one would ever find out. But the internet did find out in the late 2010s and it caused chaos, both online and for the family. Khloe and Tristan (temporarily) broke up and Kylie and Jordyn cut ties all together. The whole scene was painful to watch; we can’t imagine what it was like for the Kar-Jenner sisters.

#3: Kim Is Robbed in Paris

Top 10 Times Someone Broke the Internet

The famous family is usually making the news for something they had done or worn or said. But rarely for things that happen to them. So they seemed pretty untouchable to the public. That is, until Kim was robbed in 2016. They were used to sharing their lives with anyone that will listen, so Kim readily shares photos of her jewelry. After the scary incident, she has publicly stated that her social media practices have changed to preserve her privacy. We love being a part of their lives, but are glad she is stepping up her safety.

#2: Kylie Gives Birth

Imagine having your entire life documented, then deciding you want privacy for nine months. The whole world is going to want to know why you're suddenly out of the limelight. It would be unimaginable pressure. That is exactly what Kylie faced with her first birth. We know the internet can be judgemental, so it is understandable why she would want to keep this time for herself. But the rumors ran rampant. So when Kylie actually announced the birth in 2018, all online eyes were on her again. It’s hard to imagine how hard the change must have been for her, but we’re glad she decided to share the story. And this second time around, she is taking her fans along for the pregnancy journey. Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. #1: Kim’s Paper Magazine Cover

10 Times Keanu Reeves BROKE the Internet

The Kar-Jenners are the absolute queens of public relations. Kim’s behind was a topic of conversation as long as the family has been famous. From being accused of getting plastic surgery, to getting a barrage of mean comments, she had heard it all. Instead of hiding from the questions or trying to avoid the topic, she got her dairyaire front and center on the cover of Paper Magazine. And the cover accomplished its goal: it broke the internet. The Kar-Jenners always know how to turn any publicity to their favor and we love them for that.
