You can be mean to these celebs but online, they will clap back. Kevin Durant, Tom from Myspace, Anderson Cooper, Zendaya, Gabourey Sidibe, Chrissy Teigen, Oprah and Sharon Osbourne.

#10: Kevin Durant

When this Twitter user criticized Kevin Durant for getting involved in online arguments, the NBA player hit him back with some stats regarding the critic’s own Twitter history. @JayDogon was apparently disappointed in Durant for expressing himself on social media, and suggested he “do better”. But, isn’t self expression exactly what social media is for? Rather than insult the misguided fan, Durant hit back with the fact that @JayDogon has nearly 200,000 tweets himself, but that, in his eyes, that doesn’t make @JayDogon any less of a man. Everyone needs to vent, so just let the man be!

#9: Tom From Myspace

If you ever wondered what happened to everyone’s favorite top 8 friend after the fall of Myspace, rest assured that Tom is doing just fine. After making a comment about the hysteria surrounding Instagram’s change in their terms of service, this troll gets at him for failing to keep Myspace alive. Tom claps back brilliantly with this reassurance that life is pretty good without it. @polotapia should probably worry less about what Tom is doing now and a little more about his own professional life, considering that Tom sold Myspace for $580 million while the user in question likely “slave[s] away hoping for a half-day off”. Ouch.

#8: Anderson Cooper

Anderson Cooper fired back at this unintelligent Tweeter with his own, misspelled, words. @SpinningDisk tweeted to Cooper “Your not too bright are you”, spelling the word “you’re” y-o-u-r instead of y-o-u-’-r-e. The tweet might have actually been funny if it was done on purpose, but when Cooper asks if the mistake was intentional, @SpinningDisk deflects the question, suggesting that Cooper is more concerned with his trivial spelling mistakes then his own transgressions. However, Cooper makes it clear that, actually, nothing about the user concerns him at all.

#7: Zendaya

Top 20 Memorable Zendaya Outfits

The singer and “Spiderman: Homecoming” star became a hero herself when she jumped to the defense of a young woman being body shamed. @StarpowerXCV accused @_illestCee of being “misleading” with her pictures, and, in doing so, prompted Zendaya, who just happened upon the mean tweet, to shut down the young man’s sexist comments by guaranteeing him that he is not even on the young woman’s radar, and encourages her to slay on. Furthermore, Zendaya offers to make her a model for her clothing line Daya by Zendaya. The only thing this hater accomplished was helping his victim get closer to living her dream.

#6: Gabourey Sidibe

They say that the best revenge is living well. Gabourey Sidibe is living proof that this is, in fact, true. After her appearance at the Golden Globes in 2014, the actress was faced with a numerous amount of hate tweets about the gown she wore. Many of them cruelly commented on her weight, or made mean comparisons. She responded perfectly with a sarcastic tweet about just how hurt she was, crying on that private jet, heading to her dream job. As for those who would tear her down, she couldn’t possibly care less.

#5: John Legend

Top 10 Times Chrissy Teigen & John Legend Made Us Believe in Love

Who knew that John Legend was the hero that the millennial generation needed? When Donald Trump was met with protesters at a Chicago University rally where he was meant to speak, his son took to Twitter in his defense, saying that when 5 students were asked why they were protesting, they couldn’t even answer. Donald Jr. went so far as to insult the entire “participation medal/micro aggression generation”. In response, John Legend stepped in and cleared up any confusion on the matter. He didn’t pull any punches, stating that they were protesting his racist father.

#4: Chrissy Teigen

Also in:

Top 10 Most Hilarious Chrissy Teigen Twitter Moments

John Legend may have serious clap back game, but Chrissy Teigen is the master of shade in that household. She has long been outspoken about her dislike of Donald Trump, but, apparently, the comment, “no one likes you,” was enough to make him block her. When @GorgonFreeman dared to say that it was the best thing to ever happen to her and that she had peaked, she hit back with a hilarious list of all the actual best things in her life, including her bestselling book, great boobs, loving family, and the fact that she was, at the moment of tweeting, literally eating pasta on a lake in Italy. So no… not her peak.

#3: Oprah

Also in:

Top 10 People Oprah Made Famous

The ironically named @awalkdatalk should have done his homework before he accused Oprah of not doing enough to help out America’s ghettos. When he asks her when she is planning on giving back, she fires back with a simple and concise “when are you?” Oprah informs him that she has put 500 African American men through college over the years, and asks what he has ever done. Maybe he should walk the walk before he tries to talk the talk. He might want to get some aloe for that burn.

#2: Sharon Osbourne

Kendall and Kylie Jenner, while hugely successful, have made their fair share of professional missteps. When the sisters launched their “vintage t-shirt collection”, which took famous images of musicians and plastered their own images over them, Sharon Osbourne took issue with the sister’s audacity to lump themselves in with the musical icons. She particularly objected to one t-shirt with an image of Kendall Jenner’s face dwarfing her husband, rock legend, Ozzy Osbourne. In response, she destroyed the sisters in an accurate tweet expressing that they have not earned their place among these legends, and they should best stick to what they know.

#1: JK Rowling

Also in:

Top 10 Times Celebs Clapped Back Against Body Shaming

This beloved author might just be the Queen of clap back. When a hater stated that her profession somehow invalidated her political opinions, she defined for him what living in a free country means to stinging effect. In perhaps her best comeback to date however, Rowling praised fellow powerful woman, Serena Williams, for her success, to which @diegtristan8 replied, completely unprompted, that the only reason Serena is so successful is because she’s “built like a man”. Rowling had the perfect, hilarious response, “Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You're an idiot” accompanied by a picture proving that Serena’s athletic body in no way diminishes her femininity.
