Join http://www.WatchMojo.com as we count down our list for the top ten bands that have aged well. For this list, we're looking at bands that have been successful over the span of a long career, and after many years are still making good music while retaining the majority of their original members. To qualify, bands must have released music within the past 5 years. Break ups do not disqualify a band, as long as they got back together and are still making good music.

Who says the oldies can’t still rock? Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’re counting down our list for the top ten bands that have aged well. For this list, we’re looking at bands that have been successful over the span of a long career, and after many years are still making good music while retaining the majority of their original members. To qualify, bands must have released music within the past 5 years. Break ups do not disqualify a band, as long as they got back together and are still making good music.

#10: Red Hot Chili Peppers (1983-)

Top 20 Alternative Rock Bands of the 90s

Kicking off our list is the rock band that created some of the funkiest jams of the 90s and still continues to rock to this day. Back then, we found their funk-punk hyperactive style very addictive, and we still do. In spite of a few line-up changes, including the semi-recent departure of guitarist John Frusciante, the Peppers continue to create incredible music. Of their recent releases, their 2006 album Stadium Arcadium won five Grammys and their follow-up I’m With You featured the instant classic “The Adventures of Raindance Maggie”.

#9: Metallica (1981-)

Also in:

Trivium On Touring with Iron Maiden, Metallica, Machine Head

With a career that was slow to rise, Metallica earned high praise in the mid ‘80s, and has been a staple of hard rock and metal music ever since. Still active to this day, the band’s intense and heavy attitude has been their signature, and has resulted in some of the best music to come from their genre. With classics ranging from “Master of Puppets” to “Enter Sandman”, their most recent effort, which received negative reviews, teamed the group up with Lou Reed for a spoken word album. Despite this, we are extremely optimistic for what these hard rockers will be cooking up next.

#8: Rush (1968-)

Also in:

Top 10 Rush Songs

This Canadian trio has maintained a solid reputation over the years for a number of things, namely their electrifying vocals and furiously beautiful guitar and drums. They also excel at just generally being a kickass rock band. Forming in the late ‘60s, and making a name for themselves throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s, the group is still well loved today for their signature style. Rush released their most successful album 2112 in 1976, which established the band as a force to be reckoned with in the prog-rock genre. Just over 35 years later, the band released Clockwork Angels, which solidified them as legends.

#7: Bon Jovi (1983-)

Top 10 Bands That Should Stop Writing New Music

This ‘80s glam rock icon is in the best shape of his life, and good thing too, because the band that takes his name shows absolutely no sign of slowing down. Despite some of their biggest singles coming out in the 80s, the band is bigger than they’ve ever been, with their latest album hitting number 1 on the Billboard 200. When it comes to the band’s signature groove, Bon Jovi has stayed completely true to their fans and themselves when delivering great music.

#6: ZZ Top (1969-)

Top 10 Bands with the Best Harmonies

Even if you don’t know them, you know their style. With beards that would even make Santa jealous, this blues rock band has been bringing the jams from day one. Nearing almost five decades together, the group’s musical talent has proven to be more akin to fine wine than anything else; it just seems to get better with age. Classics never get old, and neither do these guys, which is why their latest release, La Futura, hit number 6 on the Billboard 200.

#5: Pearl Jam (1990-)

Also in:

Top 10 Best Pearl Jam Songs

Making a name for themselves alongside other nineties grunge icons like Nirvana, Pearl Jam has consistently set our mellow hearts ablaze over the years. Be it by their biting guitar riffs or Eddie Vedder’s thunderous vocals, Pearl Jam has continued their legacy well into the 2010s and kept the spirit of grunge alive. Classic songs like “Even Flow” can still be found on any dedicated rockers playlist, along with the band’s new music, showing the depth and range of the bands incredible talent. A life wasted? We don’t think so.

#4: Radiohead (1985-)

Also in:

Top Greatest 10 Radiohead Songs

Uniting in the UK in the ‘80s, Radiohead is one of the only bands able to call themselves both classic and contemporary. The reason for this is their incredible generation spanning cannon of music that seems to be able to rock and croon all at once. With some of their first hits such as “Creep” still being popular today, the band has constantly changed their sound while managing to stay relevant with each record. They went rock on The Bends, electronic on Kid A, and then mixed the two on In Rainbows. If that isn’t diversity then we don’t know what is.

#3: U2 (1976-)

Also in:

Top 20 Best K-Pop Boy Bands

You don’t become one of the most unique sounding classic rock bands of all time just to let it all go. Whether you love them or hate them there is no arguing that they have put out some seriously great albums. This Irish rock band made a big splash across the pond and around the world as far back as the seventies, and have been favorites of music fans ever since. U2 have also established themselves as a live phenomenon, notably from their U2 360 tour, which became the highest grossing concert tour of all time.

#2: The Rolling Stones (1962-)

Also in:

Top 20 Rolling Stones Songs

One of the longest running bands on our list, The Rolling Stones rose to fame in the mid ‘60s, creating blues inspired rock with poetic lyrics. Long standing rock and roll icons, The Stones continued adding to their legacy, even through the decades that followed their breakout success. After more than fifty years active, The Stones are still putting out bad-ass rock riffs. The London legends most recently released two new songs on their 2012 greatest hits album GRRR!, and the band continues to tour to this day. Before we dig into some deep cuts from our first pick, here are a few honorable mentions. The Eagles (1971-80,1994-) Iron Maiden (1975-) Megadeth (1983-2002/2004-) Foo Fighters (1994-) Slayer (1981-)

#1: AC/DC (1973-)

Also in:

Top 10 Pop Punk Bands That You Forgot About

These guys have been back in black more times than we can count. Then again, they never really wore anything else. With rock classics across almost every decade, and a new album out in 2014, AC/DC has had their motor revving for years now, and are showing no sign of slowing down. We’re not only stoked to listen to their old tracks, but also everything they have coming down the pipe. Despite having a few lineup changes throughout the years, this group of Aussies has managed to maintain a consistent sound which has fans continuously coming back for more.
