Top 10 Badass Anime Team-Ups Everyone needs back-up every now and again. Welcome to WatchMojo and today we are counting down our picks for the Top 10 Badass Anime Team-Ups. For this list, we’ll be looking at the times in anime where characters joined forces to face a common enemy, and looked damn awesome while they were at it!

#10: The Four Cardinal Heroes

Top 10 Badass LGBTQ+ Anime Characters

“The Rising of the Shield Hero” (2019) Don’t get us wrong, we still have some major reservations about the other three heroes given their attitudes and actions towards Shield Bro. We’re looking at your Chad Spearman! However, much like Naofumi, we were willing to put aside out lingering resentment in order to see the four unite against the villainous Pope. Combing their skills, the four finally manage to work as a unit and overcome the crazy preacher’s OP-weapon. Turns out God doesn’t have a pinch on four nerds spamming their specials. Though let’s be honest, Naofumi did most of the work!

#9: Masamune & Yukimura

“Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings” (2009-10) Given how these two can wipe out whole armies by themselves, it says a lot about just how much of a threat Oda Nobunaga was. Taking on the full might of the self-proclaimed Demon King, the one-eyed, six sword wielding badass calls a truce with his young, twin spear swinging rival in order to take the final boss down. As you can guess, the results are rather explosive, giving how every warrior in this series can go full Super Saiyan Every Colour In The Rainbow.

#8: Ryuko & Satsuki

“Kill la Kill” (2013-14) Sisters doing it for themselves, albeit with sentient sailor uniforms that turn them into skimpy badasses united by one mission; to slay their wicked mother before clothing destroys the human race. You’ve got to love this show. For the longest time these two seemingly wanted nothing more than to take each other’s heads off due the mystery surrounding the murder of Ryuko’s father. Of course, things began to mellow between the two of them after their twisted family tree was revealed, leading the pair to take on mommy dearest in one hell of an act of teenage rebellion!

#7: Armstrong & Curtis

“Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood” (2009-10) How does one best a Homunculus built like a tank and can move with inhuman speed? Easy, you just need incredible valour and respectable muscles! Thankfully the Strong Arm Alchemist and Izumi Curtis’ Husband have both in abundance. In what might be the manliest moment ever committed to anime, the bulked-out duo manage to overpower Sloth with their combined strength, finally giving the beast the rest he’s long sought. We still can’t decide what’s more badass; the fight or that handshake.

#6: Gintoki & Katsura

“Gintama” (2006-) In a show mainly known for it’s laughs, it manages to up the ante to ridiculous degrees with it’s first serious arc. On a sky ship filled with Amanto forces, it falls to the White Demon and the man forever known as Zura to take them out. With bloodshed galore and the promise of one day taking down their former friend Takasugi, the fight is short but sweet, displaying that no matter how idiotic these two are shown to be on a regular basis, deep down they’re still lethal as can be.

#5: Chimera Ant Extermination Team

“Hunter x Hunter” (2011-14) To take on the full might of the Chimera Ants, even a pair of pint-sized brawlers like Gon and Killua were going to need some help. Thankfully they got it, and it came in the odd pairing of both Hunters and the rebellious Chimera Ants. In order to prevent the murder of millions of innocents in the selection, the team infiltrates the palace in order to take down Meruem and his Royal Guard. Seeing this unlikely pairing coordinate their strengths and weaknesses in a life or death situation to overcome the powerful Chimera ants is truly something to behold.

#4: Luffy & the Impel Down Prisoners

“One Piece” (1999-) Because why have a regular prison break when you can have the Straw Hat Captain team up with some of the most feared criminals in the four oceans and break through everyone in their path? While sneaking into Impel Down, Luffy not only finds himself recruiting Jimbei to his cause, but also old adversaries such as Buggy and Crocodile. Now with an impromptu army at his back, the future Pirate King proceeds to storm through every level of the world’s most dangerous fortress and invade Marineford in order to reach his brother before his execution.

#3: Atsushi & Akutagawa

“Bungo Stray Dogs” (2016-) Needless to say, these two don’t like each other very much. One’s a traumatised teen who can transform into a tiger, while the other is a murderous edgelord in service to the mafia. Kind of surprising that they would find a way to reach a compromise, or maybe the threat of a crazy rich asshole who gets stronger the more green he spends just has a way of bringing people together. While Francis F’s ability is certainly nothing to scoff at, the pair’s insane level of determination and surprising coordination manages to win them the day. Now if only someone could cheer Akutagawa up.

#2: Naruto & Sasuke

“Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” (2017-) Hard to believe that only a few years ago these two were blowing each other’s arms off, now look at them, taking on a deity with perfect synchronization. Momoshiki’s god-tier jutsu may have been able to waste the Kage, but it’s got nothing on the two former frenemies. While their strength was never in doubt, seeing how each has mastered their innate abilities to unparalleled heights was truly staggering, especially when they seamlessly merged both the power of the Susanoo and the Nine Tailed Fox. Jeez, amazing what happens when all those teenage impulses go out the window.

#1: Midoriya & All Might

Also in:

Every Midoriya Fight Ranked (My Hero Academia)

“My Hero Academia: Two Heroes” (2018) The teacher and student relationship between the world’s greatest hero and his chosen successor was always the emotional crux of the whole show, but it wasn’t until this movie that we realised just how desperately we wanted to see them fight side by side. With Wolfram’s amplified Quirk allowing him to create a vortex of metal at his command, it falls to the twin owners of One for All to put an end to his cliché ploys, and what better way than through the means of a DOUBLE DETROIT SMASH! Now that’s Plus Ultra.
