#10: “You Make Me” Ft. Salem Al Fakir True (2013)

Top 10 Pop Songs That Make You Leave the Dance Floor

Avicii’s thirtieth single overall, “You Make Me” brings on Swedish soul singer Salem Al Fakir for a song that could even knock your grandma’s socks off. Officially the second single from Avicii’s debut album, the song was first revealed to the world through “The Pete Tong Show” on BBC Radio 1 in August 2013. The track quickly became a success in the US and the UK, competing against Avicii's own monumentally successful “Wake Me Up”. The track serves as an example of just how successful house music can be when in the right hands.

#9: “Addicted to You” True (2013)

Also in:

Zanoii - Addicted To You

The fourth single off of “True”, “Addicted to You” describes how it feels to be absolutely enamoured with your significant other in a rather complicated relationship. Teaming up with folk-rocker Audra Mae on vocals, Aviciicreated an infectious dance beat that will keep you on the dance floor while singing along at the same time. That's not just talk either- there are charts to prove it, including the 5 it topped and the numerous others that saw it within the top 20.

#8: “The Nights” The Days / Nights EP (2014)

Also in:

Treyar Hurt - Saturnday Nights

Released as apart of “The Days / Nights EP” as well as his second album, Stories, “The Nights” is one experimental mash of progressive house and folk rock music. Co-Written by singer Nicholas Furlong aka RAS as an ode to his father, “The Nights” shows just how much of an impact family influence can have. The track packs just the right amount of adrenaline into every beat, satisfying the ears of listeners and pushing them to accomplish more. The thing to take away here is to live a life that you will remember.

#7: “Fade Into Darkness” Single (2011)

Instead of fading into darkness, let’s come into the light. First coming to life as an instrumental known as “Penguin”, the piano-filled house track gained new life when the vocals of Andreas Moe were added to the mix and “Fade Into Darkness” quickly became one of Avicii’s signature tracks. The tune was actually the subject of a lawsuit between Avicii and singer Leona Lewis, as Lewis was accused of sampling the track without Avicii’s permission for her 2011 song “Collide”. Perhaps uncleared sampling really is the highest form of flattery.

#6: “Silhouettes” Single (2012)

Are we just “Silhouettes” of our former selves? “Silhouettes” tackles the answer to that question. Again featuring the vocals of Swedish singer Salem Al Fakir, “Silhouettes” has a dark yet bouncy progressive house beat that blends perfectly with Fakir’s almost eerie vocal performance. While the track wasn’t a major commercial success in the United States, it did mark Avicii’s fourth appearance on the Billboard charts and resonated with fans. A subtly deep house track that you can dance to and make you think at the same time? Count us in.

#5: “Seek Bromance” Single (2010)

Before there was Avicii, there was Tim Berg. “Seek Bromance” is a do-over of Avicii's own instrumental “Bromance”, with added vocals from Samuele Santini’s “Love U Seek” which itself featured an uncredited Amanda Wilson. The track explains to listeners just exactly how important friendship is in life, all while over an epic dance groove. The track also made a bit of an impact in the US where the song's video was banned due to its video being a drug induced sex romp. That's certainly one way to get noticed.

#4: “I Could Be the One” vs Nicky Romero Single (2012)

What happens when two giant names in the EDM world square off? You get our next entry. Originally known as “Nicktim”, “I Could Be The One” is the perfect combination of Avicii’s euphoric melodies and a drum and bass rhythm track courtesy of Romero. “I Could Be The One” has encountered massive worldwide success, reached the top of the charts in multiple countries and reaching the found a spot in the top ten throughout much of Europe. A battle between two very distinct styles, the end result is just pure ecstasy for EDM fans all around the world. Are you the one?

#3: “Hey Brother” True (2013)

Top 10 Ultimate Cardio Songs

The third single off of his debut album, “Hey Brother” takes a more experimental ie: country approach to house music, incorporating vocals from bluegrass singer Dan Tyminski. Fans clearly enjoyed the combination, as “Hey Brother” encountered massive success worldwide and has been acclaimed by critics for its unique approach to the initially stale house track. The track also spawned multiple remixes, one by Island Def Jam that focuses more on the instruments, as well as a re-release featuring vocals by Salem Al Fakir. Regardless of the vocalist, “Hey Brother” is the new sound fans have been waiting for.

#2: “Wake Me Up” True (2013)

Also in:

Akoben X Florence - Don’t Wake Me Up (Lyric Video)

Our silver medalist is what happens when soul and house clash. The first single from his debut album, “Wake Me Up” quickly became a critical and commercial success, being praised for a solid combination of genres and its infectious beat, even if it did rub some house fans the wrong way. The song is also one of the strongest collaborations in the Avicii catalogue as it features vocals from soul singer Aloe Blacc and expert guitar work from Mike Einziger of Incubus who also co-wrote the track. Hey, just because you are known for house music doesn’t mean you can’t experiment. Right? Before we level up our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions. “The Days” The Days / Nights EP (2014) “Drowning” feat. Laura V (Avicii Remix) Mirage – The Remixes (2011) “My Feelings For You” with Sebastian Drums Single (2010) “Superlove” vs Lenny Kravitz Single (2012)

#1: “Levels” Single (2011)

We're giving this our gold crown for a reason. Premiering at the 2011 Ultra Music Festival, Avicii’s progressive house masterpiece introduced an entirely new group of listeners into the world of electronic dance music. By farAvicii’s most signature track, “Levels” infected listeners all around the world, forcing EDM into our society. The track eventually reached number one on dance charts in the United States as well as the top 10 in over ten different countries. The track’s success was bolstered even higher due to the highly popular remix by American brostep producer Skrillex, finally becoming perhaps the most well known track in all of EDM.
