Script written by Alex Crilly-Mckean

#10: “Boruto: Naruto the Movie” (2015)

Top 10 Best Boruto Fights

Long before Boruto’s Dad’s Son got himself his own show, he was given a big screen spotlight, and thankfully it was also one of the franchise’s better movie outings! Given how fans had been salivating for any and all new content since the end of the manga, being able to get this preview into the life of the next generation of shinobi was all they needed to get hyped. Granted, the trailer giving snapshots of a much older original cast probably helped with that!

#9: “My Hero Academia: World Heroes' Mission” (2021)

Also in:

Top 20 My Hero Academia Quirks

Deku’s seasonal returns have always warranted rave reviews from fans, but it seems that the teaser for his upcoming, third movie outing seems to have struck a deeper chord. Maybe it’s the idea of everyone’s favourite trio of heroic undergraduates teaming up with international pro-heroes, that it’s slated to be the last My Hero Academia movie, or maybe it’s how slick Todoroki looks in that armour. Either way, fans are pumped for this. Given how much it grossed in Japan, let’s hope the quality matches the anticipation!

#8: “Star Wars Visions” (2021)

Also in:

Top 10 Best Star Wars Visions Moments

The anthology that proved once and for all that anime and a galaxy far, far away go hand in hand. While many have come to adore or dismiss various entries, there’s no denying that as soon as they got an eyeful of the varying art styles, fans were hooked. An anthropomorphic bunny Jedi, a lightsaber duel inspired by Kurosawa films, a battle on a Star Destroyer created by Studio Trigger?! It was a buffet of animated sci-fi goodness that immediately hooked okaku and force sensitives alike.

#7: “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” (2018)

Also in:

Top 10 Biggest Changes in Dragon Ball Super: Broly

This reinvention of the Legendary Super Saiyan might have been the most excited DB fans had been since the unveiling of Ultra Instinct. After all, despite his paper thin character, Broly was still a household name, and the idea of his backstory being deepened had plenty of people singing Toriyama’s praises. Now officially canon, what really drove hype for this movie was the speculation on what exactly they would do with Broly’s character, and just how his fight against two Super Saiyan Blues would look!

#6: “Bleach: The 1000 Year Blood War” (TBA)

Also in:

Top 10 Things to Remember Before Bleach Thousand Year Blood War

Even if it’s just a flashy collection of images straight from the manga, the announcement that one of the classic shounen Big Three was finally getting its conclusion animated sent longtime fans into a tailspin. In spite of the controversy surrounding its ending, getting to see Ichigo throw down with the Quincy still had everyone begging for an adaptation. If they nail some of its more potent fights with the Sterneritter, they’ll have won half the battle.

#5: “Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time” (2021)

Also in:

Top 10 Neon Genesis Evangelion Moments

Hard to say if it was the contents of the trailer that had longterm fans losing their shit, or that the canon conclusion to the Evangelion verse was actually here, that it was real, that Anno had finally got his way and succeeded in giving Shinji an ending. Fans had no idea what to expect. Would it be another meta-musing on the frailties and failing of mankind? An ode to End of Evangelion? A massive middle finger to Gainax? By this point, Anno could have just had Shinji getting in and out of the robot on loop and fans would have eaten it up.

#4: “JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Stone Ocean” (2021)

Also in:

Top 10 Moments From JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean Part 1

Not even the fact that this might be sent to Netflix Jail has dampened the spirit of JoJo fans. Maybe because it stars Jotaro’s daughter having to fight her own way out of an actual jail with the power of her stand and her fellow convicts. To be fair, the next instalment in the Joestar saga was always going to cause mass fervour from fans, but given the arrival of its first female lead and JoJo-fever being at its apex, Jolyne’s debut well and truly set the internet ablaze.

#3: “Chainsaw Man” (TBA)

Also in:

Top 10 Chainsaw Man Moments

Riding high off some of the most successful anime in the modern scene, MAPPA decided to make another grab for dominance with this display of peak anime violence. The trailer for the much beloved hack and slash gained universal acclaim upon release, giving hints to the carnage that Denji and his devil hunting antics will bring. We only got snippets, but it was such a gloriously over the top collage of savagery that both hardcore fans and newcomers were instantly enthralled. Bring on the madness!

#2: “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train” (2020)

Also in:

Top 10 Demon Slayer: Mugen Train Moments

Given the colossal amount of buzz this thing generated, it’s no wonder it would go on to break records as the biggest financial juggernaut in Japanese cinema. The hysteria leftover form the first series all but exploded with the reveal that it’s follow up would be condensed into movie format with all that UFOtable goodness, especially when they got hints of best boy Rengoku spitting fire aboard the Mugen Train. No matter how well the Entertainment District Arc does, we doubt it can top the thrill fans felt while watching this!

#1: “Attack on Titan: The Final Season” (2020-)

Also in:

Top 10 Things To Remember Before Attack On Titan Final Season Part 2

Oh Mappa, you do spoil us rotten. Just when you thought this mini masterpiece couldn’t better itself after season three, along came the trailer for the first part of its final outing. And it was magnificent. Even with the studio change, the build up and subtle hints at what to expect was done so well it seemed to quell any naysayers. Between Levi cutting up Titans in a forest and Eren showing off his new drip, there wasn’t any real way this trailer could have failed.
