The-Unbelievable-Story-Of-Skibidi-Toilet

Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we’re looking at the fascinating tale behind skibidi toilet.

If you’re gotten past the intro for this essay and haven’t clicked away, then we’re going to assume you fall into one of two categories. One, you know everything about skibidi toilet and want to hear our latest theories about what’s going on in their conflict-filled world. Or you’re in a group of curious internet explorers who are here to find out what this viral trend’s about. Whether you closely follow skibidi toilet or are just starting to dive into this bowl, we think it's helpful to look at the origins and break down the lore to see why it’s gotten billions of views. It all started with the musician Timbaland…sort of.

A mashup of a remixed version of Timbaland’s “Give It to Me” and Biser King’s “Dom Dom Yes Yes” ended up in a viral video from online personality Paryssbryanane. After that clip became popular, it caught the eyes and ears of Alexey Gerasimov. Paryssbryanne’s video partially inspired him to use the song in his own unique way. Gerasimov decided to combine the catchy track with imagery of a man’s head coming out of a toilet. In the end, this resulted in a 12 second clip that ended with the mystery person attacking the camera directly. Little did the internet know that this quick video was just the beginning of a much larger story.

After being introduced to the toilet man of episode 1, the ongoing series revealed that he had a lot more friends in the pipeline. And they didn’t seem to have the best of intentions. An army of skibidi toilets began to invade cities and attacked unsuspecting bystanders. They even assimilated normal humans into their ranks. Once the skibidi toilets started becoming common in all aspects of society, a group of cameraheaded individuals in suits launched a counterattack. This counter army started flushing away members of the porcelain group one by one. But just when camera people started to gain the upper hand, bigger and more resilient skibidi toilets appeared. In response, the suited army created smarter weapons and introduced strong and giant soldiers. This back and forth forms the backbone of the series. While this may just seem like a weird fight on the surface, theories have emerged that explains what this is all really about.

In July 2023, the Film Theorists channel put forth a compelling explanation as to what was going on beneath the surface of this wild war. The gist of the theory is that the cameraman and their allies represent traditional forms of media like film and tv. On the other hand, the skibidi toilets represent the popularity of internet trends and content. When that lens is applied to the story, it starts to make a lot more sense. The skibidi toilets started the series by appearing out of nowhere to completely dominate society. That’s a great metaphor for how viral videos can drop online and become all anyone’s talking about for several days to weeks at a time. As the toilets rise in popularity, traditional mediums try to keep up by inventing new ips or relying on bigger media properties. But no matter what the cameramen and their allies do, the threat of their viral enemies can never truly go away. A skibidi toilet can always burst on the scene and steal the focus away from a genuine Hollywood blockbuster. And likewise, a big movie release like “Barbie” can dominate the pop culture conversation. The two forms of content will keep fighting for control while regular humans mostly stand by and…watch. As of August 2023, there were no signs of this fictional war slowing down. But fans and the film theorists have theorized that a peace between the two sides may be brokered one day. While the series ending is still a big question mark, it is a definitive fact this video series has achieved outstanding popularity.

The first skibidi toilet video premiered in February 2023. On YouTube alone, the one minute and 7 second video has an astonishing 27 million views. The overall stats from the series are even more impressive. Its official YouTube channel experienced explosive growth and went from having 5 million to 30 million subscribers within five months. According to analysts, the series has amassed somewhere around 8 billion views and counting. And each new video is expected to get tons of attention and lots of eyes. It’s no wonder that Alexey Gerasimov’s channel was one of the most watched on YouTube this year. Every time he drops another entry in the skibidi toilet series, legions of fans come running to see what will go down next.

While some people may be tempted to dismiss this offbeat series as just a simple internet fad, it’s much more complex than it appears. The fact that the skibidi toilet saga is made up of a series of short videos and is still tremendously popular proves that shorter clips can hold their weight online. However, the viral series still won’t convince major studios and creators to throw in the towel just yet. The battle over how media is presented and consumed will likely rage just as long as and just as intensely as the battle between the skibidi toilets and the cameramen. But there is an inspiring upside. If real life imitates art, creators from all backgrounds will constantly push themselves to make better and more enduring works for audiences to enjoy. In the heat of the battle, innovative shows, movies, tv and internet clips may just be forged. It’s not the lesson we thought we’d find at the bottom of this skibidi toilet. But if this series has taught us anything, it’s that we shouldn’t judge a very odd-looking book by its cover. Who knows when another creator will give us the next skibidi toilet?
