10 Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games of 2023

Welcome to MojoPlays, and today, we’re taking a look at our 10 Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games of 2023!

We know that Nintendo still has a few months later in the year that are noticeably empty, but for the time being, these are the games that have us and many other Switch owners amped. Which Switch games are you excited for? Let us know down in the comments!

“Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe” (2023)

Compared to some of the other Nintendo consoles, Kirby didn’t hold a super prominent presence on the Wii. Along with “Kirby’s Epic Yarn”, many folks missed out the fun co-op experience that was “Kirby’s Return to Dream Land”. If you were one of those people, you’ll have a second chance with this remake. “Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe” rebuilds the Wii title with a brand new artstyle and comes with an extensive epilogue where you play as Magolor. Kirby’s thirtieth anniversary goes out with a bang when this remake launches on Switch February 24, 2023.

“Advance Wars 1 + 2 Re-Boot Camp” (2023)

This remake of the first two “Advance Wars” games was delayed from its April 8, 2022 release due to real-world events, specifically the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. With no end of the war in sight, it seems Nintendo will be dropping “Re-Boot Camp” on April 21, 2023, roughly a year later. Developed by WayForward, “Re-Boot Camp” brings back the first two “Advance Wars” games with modern visuals while retaining the story and gameplay that made the originals among the best games of the Game Boy Advance. Hopefully this will be a sign of more GBA classics getting remade or even added to the new GBA lineup for Switch Online.

“Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon” (2023)

Considering “Bayonetta 3” launched not too long ago in October 2022, it’s hard to believe we’re getting another “Bayonetta” game six months later. However, this isn’t your normal “Bayonetta”. “Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon” is a prequel that tells the story of how Cereza became the Umbra Witch we know today. You’ll control both Cereza and Cheshire to traverse the land, solve puzzles, and defeat fearsome foes. It is certainly a glaring departure from the “Bayonetta” formula, even for a spin-off, but we’ll see how it shakes up when it launches March 17, 2023.

“Disney Illusion Island” (2023)

With Disney’s renewed interest in video games these last few years, it’s exciting to see Mickey and company in their first original adventure since the days of “Epic Mickey”. “Disney Illusion Island” lets you and up to three friends control Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy as they explore the mysterious Illusion Island. Boasting unique visuals, full voice acting, and a charming personality, this platformer has had us hooked since its reveal in 2022, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it when it launches July 28, 2023.

“Samba de Amigo: Party Central” (2023)

It isn’t everyday that we see the return of an obscure, yet beloved IP. We haven’t seen “Samba de Amigo” since the Wii port of the Dreamcast original in 2008. Well, Amigo and friends are back to throw the biggest party yet in “Samba de Amigo: Party Central”. Shake your maracas with friends local and online to the beat of forty songs from across various music genres. While “Party Central” has only been confirmed for a Summer 2023 release window, we’re excited to see what songs will be included at launch and what else might be coming with confirmed DLC packs. (This sounds awfully familiar. SEGA, did you watch our video on 10 SEGA Games That Deserve a Remake?)

“Dokapon Kingdom: Connect” (2023)

Do you like “Mario Party”? Do you like RPGs? Well, there was a title for you back in the late 2000’s on PS2 and Wii. “Dokapon Kingdom” had you and your friends navigating a board and completing various quests to become the richest player on the board, thus becoming the ruler of Dokapon. The artstyle is cute, the mechanics are simple yet deep, and it has the same kind of nonsense you’d expect from a game like “Mario Party”. Expect this remaster to drop on Nintendo Switch sometime this year.

“WrestleQuest” (2023)

Speaking of quirky RPGs, “WrestleQuest” is absolutely a title worth paying attention to. Set out to become the next legend in pro wrestling as you use a plethora of moves to make your enemies kiss the canvas. Along the way, you’ll recruit real-world wrestling legends such as Andre the Giant, Booker T, and “Macho Man” Randy Savage! You will be able to kick off your SummerSlam right when “WrestleQuest” hits Switch (and PC) in May 2023.

“Master Detective Archives: Rain Code” (2023)

Spike Chunsoft has sort of been struggling in recapturing that energy and charm we saw in the “Danganronpa” games. (Really, what the hell happened with “Zanki Zero”?) “Master Detective Archives” looks like it could be a step in the right direction with its haunting artstyle, character designs, and new theme fitting of a mystery. What has us more confident in this game’s delivery is the fact that Kazutaka Kodaka, the creator of “Danganronpa”, is one of the two writers (the other being Takekuni Kitayama, writer of the “Danganronpa Kirigiri” novels and “Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony”). In other words, we got the right people working on the story, and it could lead to a promising new IP for Spike Chunsoft and “Danganronpa” fans.

“Pikmin 4” (2023)

For years, it felt like “Pikmin 4” was pure vaporware as Shirgeru Miyamoto would consistently comment how the game was progressing ever since stating in 2015 that the game was “close to completion.” Eight years after that comment, and we finally see it. “Pikmin 4” will finally be launching on Switch on July 21, 2023. Though, this isn’t just another new “Pikmin” game with a new planet, characters, and Pikmin types. There’s something strange about the night mode this time around, and the look in those Bulborbs tells us the night is going to be a cruel mistress. Plus, we got a puppo! And treasures might be taking a bigger focus again. But mostly, PUPPO!

“The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” (2023)

It’s no contest. “Tears of the Kingdom” is absolutely going to be the biggest launch for Nintendo this year regardless of what comes after May. “Breath of the Wild” took the world by storm in how it evolved the “Legend of Zelda” franchise. It brought Hyrule into modern gaming by going open world, the survival mechanics added a new layer to Link’s adventure, and the dozens upon dozens of dungeons, puzzles, and boss fights kept folks playing for hundreds of hours. “Tears of the Kingdom” looks like it’ll improve upon “Breath of the Wild’s” ideas while also introducing new concepts of its own like the focus on vertical level design. Be ready to save Hyrule once more when “Tears of the Kingdom” launches May 12, 2023.
