VOICE OVER: David
Some games are better than you think. As is the case with 2007's all-but forgotten action-adventure epic “Conan” for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Occupying countless bargain bins, the absence of advertising left this Barbarian-sized quest to fend for itself. Inspired by the controls and style of the God of War franchise, the game features a rather unbarbaric-sounding Ron Pearlman as Conan, and tells the tale of his inadvertent freeing of the dark sorcerer Graven. Stripped of his armor, the Cimmerian teams-up with a warrior queen and the two set out to defeat the sorceror's evil forces and save the world. Forgotten Video Games: Conan Some games are better than you think. Welcome to WatchMojo.com and today we’ll be taking a look at 2007’s all-but forgotten action-adventure epic “Conan” for both the Xbox 360 and PS3. Occupying countless bargain bins, the absence of advertising left this Barbarian-sized quest to fend for itself. Inspired by the controls and style of the God of War franchise, the game features a rather unbarbaric-sounding Ron Pearlman as Conan. The game opens with him battling demons on a remote island, in search of a valuable gem. However, instead of claiming his prize, he inadvertently opens the tomb of a dark sorcerer named Graven. Stripped of his armor, the Cimmerian warrior is left for dead on the shore of another island. There, he teams-up with a warrior queen and the two set out to defeat Graven. But they must first travel to various lands to recover Conan’s mystical armor. Setting the tone early on, you must navigate puzzles, complete button tapping sequences and take on hordes of enemies. These many foes include pirates, armies, cults and vicious beasts that are both real and mythical. Killing them will yield you runes that allow you to upgrade your combat abilities. With a deep and varied combat system, you can rest assured the legendary plot never takes over from the focus on gameplay. In fact, the game allows Conan to wield various weapons, duel-wield, use shields, throw boulders and string attacks together for combos. Not to mention the ability to behead, dismember and disembowel your enemies. Sporting fluid graphics, an epic soundtrack and over-all impressive variety, Conan will keep you enthralled for the duration of its relatively short six-hour quest.
