7 Things You Did Not Know about Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Ever since bringing the Call of Duty video game franchise into the 21st Century with 2007s Modern Warfare, a large number of gamers have flocked to Infinity Wards’ digital battlegrounds. Welcome to Watchmojo.com, and today we will be filling you in on the 7 things you didn’t know about 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. #1: The Plot Modern Warfare 2 is a true sequel to Call of Duty 4, with a story that picks up several years following its conclusion. Gamers who are new to the franchise will be able to jump right in, but those who played the previous entry will feel deeply submerged in the plot, which revolves around the re-emergence of the Radical Russian Ultra-nationalist Organization. The ultranationalists are back and under the control of warlord Vladimir Makarov, who has made a martyr of the previous game’s antagonist in order to form an even greater powerbase. #2: The Characters: In Modern Warfare 2, players take on the role of Seargent Gary “Roach”, a young member of the elite multi-national commando unit entitled “Task Force 141”. Fans of the previous entry will appreciate the return of their previous persona, sergeant “Soap” MacTavish, who now leads the squad as its captain. #3 Co-Op: Unlike Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare 2 will have a cooperative play mode. This new feature is called “Special Ops” and allows up to 2 players to work together in unique side missions. Players can play locally, or online in various scenarios, such as fending off waves of enemies or engage the enemy by snowmobile. #4 Online Multiplayer: While retaining Call of Duty 4’s online multiplayer modes, Modern Warfare 2 introduces several new features. These include 15 different kill streak rewards and the ability to receive supply drops, missile strikes and gunship attacks after achieving a preset number of kills. Gamers will also appreciate the inclusion of in- game host migration, which means that if the host leaves the match, players will remain in the game while another host is selected, instead of being sent back to the lobby. #5 Graphics: Gamers can expect Modern warfare’s visuals to swiftly surpass those of Call of Duty 4. Modern Warfare 2 uses a completely new graphics engine, which allows for larger landscapes, enhanced detail and faster rendering. #6 Audio: Fans will rejoice to hear that English Voice Talent Bill Murray is back to reprise the role of Captain Price. Joining him will be top industry voice talent, such as Ken Larry, who voiced Albert Wesker in the Resident Evil series, along with a special appearance by Rapper 50 Cent. The soundtrack has been scored by Hans Zimmer to ensure a riveting musical experience. #7 Retail Packages: Ordinary gamers and fans of the series alike will have no shortage of choice when it comes to how much Modern Warfare they want in their lives. The game is available for North American consumers in 3 separate retail packages across the various platforms. Gamers have the choice of the standard package, which simply includes the game disk and manual. The Hardened Edition comes in a steel collectors book with art pamphlet and code to download the original Call of Duty videogame. The Prestige package includes all the previous extras in addition to fully functioning night vision goggles and stand that has been modeled on the game’s protagonist.
