Top 5 Reasons to See Ralph Breaks the Internet

And you thought “Avengers: Infinity War” was massive. Welcome to MsMojo and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 5 Reasons to See Ralph Breaks the Internet.
For this list, we’re taking a look at reasons why the “Wreck-It Ralph” sequel looks like a breakout hit.
#5: It Could Break Disney’s Sequel Curse Disneytoon Studios infamously produced a plethora of direct-to-video sequels, as well as a couple theatrical releases, that weren’t exactly on par with their predecessors. Walt Disney Animation Studios, meanwhile, has only made a few films follow-ups, such as “The Rescuers Down Under,” “Fantasia 2000,” and “Winnie the Pooh,” all of which were critically well-received, but underperformed at the box office. If Pixar has shown Disney anything in recent years, though, it’s that sequels can not only be profitable, but also expand upon the original. If “Ralph Breaks the Internet” follows in the footsteps of “Incredibles 2,” “Finding Dory,” and “Toy Story 3,” it’ll be a good sign for “Frozen 2” and other potential Disney sequels!

#4: The Voice Cast

This sequel naturally sees the return of John C. Reilly as Wreck-It Ralph, Sarah Silverman as Vanellope, Jack McBrayer as Fix-It Felix, and Jane Lynch as Sergeant Calhoun. Alan Tudyk, who provided the voice of the villainous King Candy, is also back as a new character called KnowsMore, a search engine whose autofill function can be a touch aggressive. Newcomers include Taraji P. Henson as a trendy algorithm named Yesss and Gal Gadot as Shank, a gritty driver who naturally goes up against Vanellope in a race. Picture “Mario Kart” meets “Mad Max: Fury Road.” With James Corden, Susan Lucci, and Bill Hader rounding out the supporting cast, this roster can’t be beat.

#3: The Internet Satire

Where the first film was a brilliant satire of video games, the sequel will expand its horizon with commentary on internet culture. In addition to online games, we can expect the movie to poke fun at clickbait headlines and iconic websites with Easter eggs aplenty. The idea of depicting the internet as an interactive city is one that’s been done before in other animated projects like “The Simpsons.” With a longer runtime and boundless imagination though, “Ralph Breaks the Internet” might take this clever premise to a whole new level. Clicking on a web browser can be like entering Wonderland and this film looks set to show us how just deep the rabbit hole goes.

#2: More Video Game Cameos

“Wreck-It Ralph” gave us several original characters that were bound to become household names, but it also brought together a mind-blowing ensemble of gaming icons. From Sonic the Hedgehog and Bowser, to Q*bert, the film was like the video game equivalent of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit.” While we’re on the subject of Bob Hoskins movies, Mario may finally make a big screen comeback, as director Rich Moore has expressed his desire to include Nintendo’s mascot in the sequel. Moore also hinted at the possibility of seeing Tron from Disney’s 1982 cult classic. If the filmmakers have even more cameos lined up, then “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate” might only be 2018’s second most ambitious gaming crossover.

#1: Every Disney Princess Ever!

More video game characters would’ve been enough, but “Ralph Breaks the Internet” is going all out! From “Star Wars,” to Marvel, to the Muppets, to Pixar, to their own original properties, Disney pretty much owns all of your favorite franchises. This film is taking full advantage of that with cameos packed into every corner of the Oh My Disney website, which is like a digital Disneyland. Most notably, all of the official Disney princesses will appear with almost every original voice actress reprising their role. Although we’ve seen the princesses together before, this is the first time Disney has portrayed them all in a more satirical and contemporary light, complete with modern slumber party attire.
