Top 10 Meghan Markle Facts

She’s a television star, a business mogul, a humanitarian and possibly the next Royal Princess. Welcome to MsMojo, and today we’ll be counting down our picks for the Top 10 Meghan Markle Facts.

For this list, we’re providing you with all the essential facts that you need to know about Prince Harry’s accomplished new girlfriend.

#10: She Lives in Canada

While Meghan hails from Los Angeles, she currently resides in Canada, and that’s where things allegedly heated up with her new beau at the Invictus Games. Upon his reported first meeting with Meghan through a shared friend, Prince Harry followed up a visit to the Caribbean with a stay in Toronto, the Canadian city where Meghan resides and works – more on that later. Believe it or not, Toronto is the fifth biggest city in North America and a bustling cultural hub, allowing Meghan to blend in with the crowd – for the most part, at least. Given her new romance, there will be plenty of paparazzi on the Toronto streets moving forward.

#9: She Is of African-American and Dutch-Irish Descent

Some maintain that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it’s easy to see that Meghan has a lot going on, both internally and externally. Of course, she owes that to her parents, who initially met back in the ‘70s. Her dad, Thomas Markle, has Dutch-Irish roots and actually worked as a cinematographer on the television series “Married with Children.” On the maternal side, her mom Doria - a yoga instructor and clinical therapist - is African-American. So, Meghan has a beautiful mix of heritage, and she’s even got television in her blood due to her parent’s romantic and professional past.

#8: She Has Her Own Lifestyle Brand

For all of you foodies out there, or people looking to be a little more like Megs, you just may be interested in Meghan’s delicious website, “The Tig.” Described as “a hub for the discerning palate,” the brand was born from a personal experience with Tignanello wine. Building on her discovery of “Tig” – an “ah ha!” moment, as she calls it – Meghan created her website in the spirit of life’s beautiful moments and discoveries. So, if you enjoy travel, style and everything delectable, you’ll surely find Prince Harry’s new girlfriend even more fascinating, as she’s clearly a cultured and curious woman.

NOTE: wine pronounced “teen-ya-nello” according to website.

#7: She Has Famous Friends

So, Meghan and Harry reportedly met through noted fashion designer and mutual acquaintance Misha Nonoo. And given Meghan’s acting resume and business career, you know she’s got a few Hollywood friends, too. She’s apparently tight with Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney, who’s the daughter-in-law of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney. Meghan is also friends with Bollywood and “Quantico” star Priyanka Chopra, who she was spotted while Harry was in the Caribbean in 2016. From the looks of her Instagram posts, Megs or “Flower” as her mom calls her, knows how to have fun.

#6: She’s Collaborated With Reitmans

Ok, here’s another stylish fact about Meghan Markle: she’s the “Brand Ambassador” for Reitmans, a women’s clothing company. That’s obviously quite the glamorous collaboration, yet the five-piece Meghan Markle collection seems practical yet still chic at the same time. Oh, and she even co-designed it, no big deal. Founded in Montréal, Québec in the 1920s, Reitmans has branched out to every part of Canada, and so it’s exciting to see that Meghan has embraced their brand. She seems like an ideal match for their current motto of “Life is a catwalk. Have fun with it.”

#5: She’s a Humanitarian

Not only is Meghan a brand Ambassador, but she’s also a Global Ambassador for World Vision Canada. These aren’t just meaningless titles either, as Meghan has a vast history of supporting human rights, even delivering a speech at the 2014 One Young World summit, which promotes global education about the world’s most “pressing issues.” She’s was an Advocate with the United Nations, and she’s been to Rwanda to assist with the clean water initiative, so it makes sense why Prince Harry is clearing his schedule for Meghan. Not everybody is optimistic about the new romance, but it’s clear that Meghan maintains a positive attitude across the board.

#4: She’s a Main Character on “Suits”

With all the hype surrounding Meghan the person, don’t forget that she’s a well-known television persona. Her acting career dates back to a 2002 appearance on “General Hospital,” and she’s been a series regular on USA’s “Suits” since 2011. As Rachel Zane, Meghan plays a multi-faceted character, and one that mirrors her ambitious real-life persona, at least a little bit. She’s also appeared in a couple of Hallmark Channel films recently, but she’s definitely a mainstay at USA’s fictional New York City law firm on “Suits.”

#3: She Is an Expert Calligrapher

For young actresses, there’s a variety of ways to make ends meet. For Meghan, she utilized her calligraphy talent early in her career to land a gig with Dolce & Gabbana. Seriously, Meghan penned holiday letters for the famous brand, using her cursive skills for celebrity correspondence. She also composed the wedding invites for Robin Thicke and Paula Patton’s wedding, so – wow! Yep, she’s more than just a pretty face, and she’s far more than just another briefcase girl from “Deal or No Deal.” You get the deal, MsMojoholics – Meghan has loads of creativity and self-motivation.

#2: She Has Been Married Before

While tabloids are abuzz to see the young couple tie the knot sooner or later, it’s not actually Markle’s first time gettin’ hitched. She dated movie producer Trever Engelson for years before their 2011 wedding, and even appeared in one of his films – the 2010 R-Pats flick, “Remember Me.” After the couple divorced two years later, Meghan later dated chef Cory Vitiello. Of course, when it comes to Harry’s Family, divorce has been a touchy subject in the past – like, remember when Queen Elizabeth’s own sister Margaret wanted to marry the divorced Peter Townsend? Or how bout his and William’s parents’ very public split in 1996? In spite of the potential dissent, Meghan and Harry seem strong enough to handle it.

#1: She’s Already Met Prince Harry’s Family

You know it’s official when Kensington Palace says it’s official. In early November of 2016, Harry fought back against online trolls, issuing an official statement after media abuse and questionable headlines about his new romance cropped up. Not long after, Meghan was introduced to Prince William while visiting in London. Since her TV show was on hiatus, Meghan had free reign for a truly royal trip, and she’s now reportedly well-acquainted with Harry’s immediate fam. So, what’s next? We’ll just have to wait and see, but now you know a little more about Meghan the actress, the humanitarian, and the fabulous girlfriend of Prince Harry.
