It was originally planned as an openworld, but somewhere down the line something fucked up and the game was stitched together with linear bike ride sequences.

The game deserves credit for adding a compelling story, but that doesn't overlook the fact the game is an inferior, ugly-looking Minecraft clone. Plus, it's all pointless when you realize Minecraft was just recently released for Wii U.
