Todd Manning was originally a character that was supposed ot just be used for Marty's gang rape (a story ABC did in response to an increase in reports of gang rapes on campus) but Roger Howarth's performance was so amazing (he won the Emmy for oustanding young actor) they wanted to keep the character on instead of just killing him off or writing hi
