Yang is the ray of sunshine of Team RWBY. She looks for the positive in every situation. She took a hard stumble after the end of Volume 3, losing her arm to Adam Taurus, but bounced back to return to the team and stopped her mother from doing the worst. If you don't like it, get ready to burn. How's that for a pun-chline?
Pyrrha is a strong fighter who just wants friends and not be treated like an unreachable goal. She fights for her friends and for what's right. She's become such a memorable and favorite character that members of Team JNPR carry reminders of their departed teammate in the following volumes.

The quintessential villain that people love. Roman has wit and personality. One of two villains in the series you really cannot hate. The other being his helper Neo.
Blake is one of the more focused on characters of the group. She gets an arc at the end of volume 1, gets another in volume 2, and an important moment in volume 3. She has history and a personality fitting of that history.
Qrow is a flawed character. He does his best for his loved ones, like training Ruby with a scythe and saving Yang and Ruby. Even though his semblance of bad luck hinders him, he still helps out and defends what is right. That and he's voiced by Vic Mignogna, so there's that.
