This episode changed the platform for the heroes. Henry became the new Author and Emma admitted she loves Hook and she also became the new Dark One.

The curse was broken because of true loves kiss between mother and son. As Emma was forced into believing and reconciling with the fact that everything she dismissed was true the flashbacks and the "current" timeline followed each other nicely. And then we find out that magic is coming to Storybrooke.
