#1, Comfort acknowledges that creationism has nothing to prop it up and resorts to threats. #2, Comfort is suggesting that we can trick God by pretending we believe in things when we don't. And nothing should be more offensive to Christians than thinking you can trick God.

As a general rule of thumb, anyone belonging to the church that refers to the Earth's failure to be destroyed as "The Great Disappointment" should be looked at with suspicion.
