Lock and Reload
As one of the most beloved platforming franchises in all of gaming, the recent remake of the titular duo’s first outing was met with widespread praise. The polished mechanics and poignant sense of nostalgia was exactly what the franchise needed. With the board now officially reset, we see no reason why the franchise shouldn’t continue down its new path and bring back some of Ratchet and Clank’s other greatest hits.
There are certainly no shortage of galactic misadventures to choose from, but we feel these particular three would best work as foundations to be tweaked and remastered.
#3: “Deadlocked” (2005)
The black sheep of the franchise, this is by far the grittiest escapade our Lombax has undertaken. Forced to compete in a series of death matches in order to earn his freedom, this game had a lot going for it in terms of the premise, multiplayer, challengers and some badass sets of armor. There was obviously still a lot to be desired, so as long as the developers provide plenty of additional content we feel that this one could be a real winner. Are you not entertained?!
#2: “Tools of Destruction” (2007)
After the likes of Up Your Arsenal concluded the original trilogy, this was duo’s return to glory following a series of mediocre spin-offs. Everything we loved was back, only with upgraded visuals and plenty more weapons to test out. The Future saga may have meandered in quality soon after, but it still didn’t stop this game from standing tall as some of their best outings. Who else wants to see Captain Slag remastered?
#1: “Going Commando” (2003)
The sequel that took the lightheartedness of the original and implemented mechanics that have since become essential staples of the franchise. The most logical candidate to be remade next, getting to deck our Ratchet will all manner of new gadgets, team up with thief Angela Cross and take on the threat of MegaCorp would be a dream for longtime fans. Make it happen Insomniac!
