The annual Met Gala (or Met Ball) is a fundraiser for the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It’s fashion’s night to shine, as most stars attending take the opportunity to make bolder choices with their outfits than they typically would on the red carpet. Emma Stone embraced the 2016 theme of “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology” with a futuristic looking corset over a classic white Prada gown. She also debuted a new, darker hairstyle than fans were used to seeing, which gave her whole look an added edge.

The 2014 Met Gala honored British-American designer Charles James and Emma Stone decided to mark the event in a crop top and skirt combo by Thakoon. Though Charles James was known for more traditional couture, Emma was one of several A-listers to don a crop top on the red carpet. She made the daring choice of mixing two different shades of pink, but totally pulled it off - even with her red hair. Her laidback mermaid braid and neutral makeup lent the whole look a casual “I woke up like this” vibe.

#3: “68th Golden Globe Awards” (2011)

Back in 2011, before Emma Stone was the mega star she is today, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in the teen comedy, “Easy A.” For the event, Emma wore a short-sleeved Calvin Klein Collection shift dress in a gorgeous shade of peach and finished the look with coordinating makeup. The minimalist style dress skimmed her curves perfectly and created a surprisingly modern silhouette. There was no need to over adorn with jewelry and she made the choice to let the dress shine on its own. She may not have won the statue, but she won us over with her pastel hued look.

#2: “72nd Golden Globe Awards” (2015)

Emma was nominated for another Golden Globe in 2015, this time for her performance in “Birdman.” The film went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture that year, although Emma didn’t take home the acting honor. She took the bold move of forgoing a traditional dress for the occasion and picked an embellished strapless jumpsuit by Lanvin instead. Not just anyone can pull off wearing pants on the red carpet, especially adorned with an oversized bow sash, but Emma totally did. The perfect tailoring of the outfit mixed with Emma’s signature confidence made it an instant hit.

#1: “74th Golden Globe Awards” (2017)

In 2017, Emma was nominated for her standout performance in the year’s buzziest film, “La La Land.” This was her time to shine, and she finally took home an award. The dress she chose was a dreamy Valentino gown adorned with subtle metallic stars, a nod to the old Hollywood theme of the movie she was nominated for. The nude colored dress featured a plunging neckline and low back design. Her dazzling look got a lot of attention from fans and the fashion press, putting her at the top of many best-dressed lists.
