Finally recognized as an Olympic event in 1998, snowboarding has grown to become a worldwide phenomenon. Associated with surfing and skateboarding subcultures, snowboarding has traditionally butted heads with skiing culture. Now practically a mainstream sport, accepted on the slopes with over 5 million riders participating worldwide, we are witnessing more and more contests and jam formats.
